Who has done door inserts?

I managed to do the leatherseats.com install within my max. However, I've been driving around with cloth inserts still in my doors (ghetto!). Who has done the door insert installation? Anyone have linkage on an install? The instructions on the leatherseats.com didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. I'm debating on whether or not to have a local upholstery shop do the inserts for me.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks and happy holidays.

It's actually quite simple (I haven't done it, but I'm recalling the install from memory). You remove the door panel (not the sheet metal, but the interior part) - there are 3 screws one in the handhold and two at the bottom. Remove these screws and then pop off the plastic around the handle. The door panel can then be removed. Lay the insert over the existing one, and press the excess cloth around the insert with a flathead screwdriver. While the panel is off, get some nice speakers up front

The other writeup has good pics etc, but I hope this is a good start.

Anyone know where the writeup is for this (linkage)? The local Katskinz quoted me 175 to do it if I furnished the inserts. This sounds reasonable to me, but am not opposed to doing it myself.

Any help is appreciated.

The inserts I have look alot bigger than the door cloth. I don't want to have to try to trim them.

They are slightly bigger when you place them over the stock cloth because you need the extra material so you can tuck them into the recessed area around it.

Yes it's quite easy. It takes a little time. It took me about 45 minutes but that's just cause I was going slow and didn't want to rip the material with the screw driver.

You guys, seattlemax has CFI leather, the pieces of vinyl are much bigger than the insert locations. It needs to be trimmed. I have the exact same setup seattle. I took the fabric off my panels and then..... Left it off. Cleaned off the residue and now my panels are the same color as the gray around it. For now I like it a ton more. You can leave the fabric on I hear, that web spray they sent is pure azz. I tried one, it didn't look perfect. I would pay to have them done myself, no price wouldn't be worth it. Best of luck, I hear contact cement may work better and more smoothly than that spray garbage CFI sent. Those guys suck seriously.... I hope they go under

How are the stock door inserts attached anyway? Glue? Screws?

stock cloth is glued on to a foam backing which is all glues to the door panel.

stock leather is a seperate panel which is held to the door by these metal prongs.
