beating on your tranny

this is for the 5spds. Lots of people talk of beating on their trannies. Well let's make a list of possibilities of what is beatings so everyone can be aware and only do so when applicable

erm common sense? grinding, shifting at high rpms, partial clutch usage, dropping into the wrong lower gear, non releasing the clutch and depressing before shifting into reverse, riding the clutch (don't keep it pressed inless you need it), resting your arm on the shift **** thus creating pressure on the gears. and then some more common sense.

i believe it's important to match rev when you downshift. i like to go a step further and double clutch, but there's an ongoing debate that it does nothing better. i've even heard that it's worse on the tranny. go figure...
