"minor" modifications to drop Skyline engine in Maxima...

Read the description that this guy put:

Moronic description of motor swap.

All you have to do is convert the maxima to AWD...

I sent him an email:

Hi,

I am very interested in purchasing this engine from you. I have the $2000 in cash as per your buy it now price. However, I'll bid only if you can verify that the following can indeed be done:

1) It will be a direct bolt on into a Nissan Maxima (because it is a Nissan after all).

2) The tranny will also be a bolt on into a Nissan Maxima.

3) There is an availabe AWD kit that will convert my Maxima into an AWD vehicle.

4) This can all be done for a reasonable and low price as you have lead me to believe in your item description.

5) If you can recommend a shop any where within the United States that will be able to do this swap for a reasonable price

Thanks!

David

**end email**

and yes, i do know it is impossible to drop the motor/tranny in.

This was in the 4th gen forum a couple weeks ago...

I guess no one bought it from him the first time. The whole thing is pretty much .

First off, that is an RB25DE(possibly DET) engine, not an RB26DETT. The pictured car is a GT25 model, at most. The RB26DETT does not have a whole plastic engine cover, only a red valve cover. Additionally, the grille is slightly different from the GT-R, especially since there is no GT-R emblem.

If you look at the picture of the dash, you will notice the steering wheel does not say "GT-R" in the center. There is only a three-pod gauge cluster in the center of the dash. The R34s had the option of a video screen in place of the cluster if you got GPS, but the "GT-R" has a different system that measures EGTs, oil pressure, lateral-g, etc.

Hope I don't burst Romeo's bubble but I sent him a message thru EBay mail and told him he had done absolutely NO RESEARCH at all to make the claim of his motor going in a Maxima...he wrote back right away and said "Okay, thanks for the info" nothing saying it will change his listing but he did acknowledge it...

ok, here is his first response:

everything you have in mind is correct and everything
you asked me, except for number 5 you have to look for
that info locally in your area. if u want to buy it
now i can remove on ebay, it is actually worth way
more, but i am not willing to hold on to it any
longer.

here is what i wrote back:

Thanks for the quick reply. Are you absolutely sure
that the motor will bolt right in along with the R34
tranny? And are you 100% absolutely sure that there
is a kit available to turn my front wheel drive
nissan maxima into an AWD Nissan Maxima? I am
having a hard time finding such a kit. I would like
to be sure the availability of such an item before I
decided to invest $2000 for this motor.

David

here is his response:

100% sure.

what i wrote:

well, what is interesting to me is that i called over 20 shops across america, even MotorRex, the only shop in the US that imports R34 Skylines and they told me it is impossible to drop the RB motor in my Maxima with out spending upwards of $60K on labor alone. then i went onto the forums at www.maxima.org and asked if this was possible and every one on there has never heard of this being possible or of the AWD kit you speak of. so i call nissan of North America and they tell me it is indeed impossible.

can we say OWNED!
