Why did you start modding the max

Why did you start modding your max?

I started on the wheels and tires (twice) because I hated the GLE rims and I had tires that were not proper for our weight. I then upgraded rims again because I liked the design of my new rims. I did handling mods because I liked how quiet the max was, and did not want to make it louder w/ performance mods. I upgraded the gauges because I like white face gauges, and I upgraded the center console because the 96 console blows. I added the 96 changeholders to the 97 consloe so that I do not have to fish for change at tollbooths. I upgraded the sound system (and continue to do so) because while the bose is okay, it is not what I am used to. I did the K&N Drop-in filter because I needed a new air filter anyway and this one was only $16 on eBay. Lastly, I upgraded the lighting (headlights) for safety and visibility, and i went to clear corners because I got a set for cheap.

Next mods: more stereo mods (front stage) and yellow fog bulbs.

I wanted to be unique! Plus the stock rims, ambers, and the size of the exhaust tip was ****ing me off lol. Who wouldn't mod a 5spd?

i started it with a rear wing... my car was a stock stock Gxe. Started to add all the options for the max: forglights, spoiler, leatherseats, heated mirrors. Then the rims. After I found the org, I became crazy. I never saw a maxima around my area with more then rims. All the sudden I see tons of riced out Maximas, which makes me want to be different with my maxima.

I wanted to be a little bit faster. Of course nothing is gonna make a maxima into a corvette, but with some bolt ons maxima can achieve respectable performance for a 4 door sedan.

I lowered the car for looks, not for performance. I'm not a road course racer.

Yep, it was the org. I bought the car with the intention of modding. I got my "performance" stuff first, but once I made it to the track, I gave up on the idea of performance I bought the springs and rims for looks, and that's what direction I'm heading.

Although, my next mod will help me see better.

I SWORE I would not mod the max...except for rims...and a system (okay, a mini-system).

Now I added the OEM options that I wanted- 97 console and SE gauges...But I really have no excuse for the RSB and FSTB. Even the K&N has a practical side...but not the clear corners. I am just a sucker for modding my car to make it what I want. Not particularly fast, or good at handling, or a looker...just what I want. My wife hates it...

I found the .org. Started with a FSTB, clear corners, then a PRCAI.
Then the Y pipe, catback and now I have lost count of mods.

The .org is what started it all.

Damn you Jambo...................

Then the MEVi, NX kit VB mod, tranny cooler, interior mods etc etc.

I now have a need for speed and I know my next car will come stock with all of the things I have done to the Max!!!

I bought the car based on the fact that:

A - It wasn't a Chevy
B - It had the most reliable engine I could find.

Then, I went on the .org and found out I could replace those ugly yellow blinkers....

Now I'm SCed, MEVIed, and exhausted.

Because two years ago I went to a condo complex in D.C. called the Atrium, and in the first parking spot inside was parked a balck 1997-1999 Nissan Maxima, with 18" Konig Monsoons, Stillen bodykit, lowered, exhaust, lots of LEDs, and the car just broke my heart. We had a Maxima too and it was not nearly as gorgeous. The second I saw that car, I knew I had to modify the Max. I to this day don't know whose car that was, but let me tell you it was GORGEOUS!

I found the org and started learning about the car's potential. I looked the other day at my join date on the org... it was like 3 months after I got the car which surprised me? I wonder what I wasted my time doing on the internet before then? I upgraded my suspension and wheels/tires first because the stock suspension SUCKED, going from a civic that handled like it was on rails to a stock max suspension was not fun, and wheels and tires I do on all my cars.

I knew I wanted something faster and larger than my civic so I bought the max, my only other option was a Prelude VTEC, but I found the Max first.

speed and handling improvement. Because I love the car and want to make it even better. The other cars I had I did not mod because they were all older hand-me-down boring stuff, so this is my first REAL car that I feel worthy of my true affection and time.

I have crazy cousins who are into modding, one has a 2000 328, 98 accord, and a 2001 Celica GTS all are modded.. The max was just a natural choice to mod.. I started with the handbrake and shifter, and DC's ...now im looking for an intake is there any difference between stillen and the others?

i started because it looked too much like an older woman's car; stripped down white gxe with gold package. so first i went with the spoiler...it's all down hill from there. obsession, by nissan.

First, came the .org.
Then, came the FTSB to help tighten the front end. After that, I got the Stillen Intake to improve on my 15.87 stock times. Next, I'm getting a WSP Y

Because I have been into modding since my first 92 eclipse. With high insurance, and the fact that most imports were getting slower and didn't come with forced induction after the 90's , I decided to find an older car that had a lot of potential, that would walk all of the new slower replacements. I saw on car-stats.com that a 96 GXE was running as fast if not faster than similar yeared Type-R's, and Mustange GT's, so I figured with four doors and a total sleeper look this would be the car. I also got a bonus of having a car that I could take a date out in very comfortably, valle park with pride, and race on the weekends.

Now I'm just trying to make the max look unique without making it look too modified. Bigger wheels that match the SE style, nice chrome exhaust, clears all the way around, shaved rear, AE headlights and performance components that would amplify it's already aggresive nature. Now I'm making my own own parts and I'm totally hooked on this car.
