Gentlemen I need advice...................

I went to to look at a '98 Max at a local used car dealership. Has 75,000 miles on it very, very clean car. I believe it is a Maxima GLE,I have already checked the VIN on CarFax.Clean car. No dents, some scrapes that can be buffed out. I live in a town that is primarily Ford and Chevy.I have two Nissans at the moment 1990 300ZXTT and a 1995 Pathfinder SE that literally will die with me. The guy wants $9,700.00 for this puppy. I need opinions.

have you checked it out with a mechanic? If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself, but it sounds like a good deal. I would check for stuff like: coolant ANYWHERE in engine bay other than where it's supposed to be, check condition of suspension (struts, shocks, boots/bushings), check typical things like tire wear, rust spots (body/underbody). Check service records for oil changes etc.

Looks like you did your homework, I dont think you need us to convice you to get it. I paid about that price for mine and it had about the same milage. I just got mine last month and reached a point of just getting a car (The other car (92 Sunbird LE) overheated picking up the Max..LOL...) I ended up with a 98 SE 5 spd fully loaded (I wanted to stick with manual) and have not regretted getting it since... im still giddy everytime I get in to drive.... good luck

I know I was just teasing! Excellent that you do all your work yourself! the great part about the 4th gen maximas (except 95 I believe) is that they have a timing chain, not belt. You wont' have to replace that (although some people like to replace the tensioners).
