We need a spring option like this...

Neuspeed SofSport

Basically a spring that is as stiff as any of the other performance springs, but they hardly lower the vehicle at all. These usually drop the car less than an inch.

This is the kind of spring that we need to get developed.

How can we approach one of the existing spring makers to develop this kind of spring?

hmmmm who would not want to lower the Maxima

with a bimmer or audi i can see why you may not want to lower it but not with our cars

- maybe talk to ground Control/Eibach see what they say

haha I know what you mean- Ground controls are the anti-thesis of comfort

JIC coilovers with the right settings the ride is perhaps better than stock (not floaty, not harsh, just VERY well dampened and controlled)

hows that for an option??

wouldn't H&R's be similar to what was desctibed. "Do not lower the vehicle as much, allowing it to retain necessary ground clearance"

I wish they make these springs for the Max because that's what I've been wishing for.

I used to have Sofsports on the Hondas/Acuras I used to own. They rode like stock and made the cars handle much better. In my Integra the Sofsports made the ride more supple than stock. And the drop was subtle but noticeable when parked next to a similar car.

agreed.

why buy springs that don't lower the car.. if you think higher wheel gap warrants better performance, that's insane.. and if you just want a spring that doesn't go low, get ANY SUSPENSION prduct for a maxima.. none of them "lower" the car.. at all.

You know that neuspeed springs really are H&R's right, they just
put their name on them. H&R does make 3 different levels of springs.
They have an O.E sport (which is what you described), a Sport
spring (which is the one they currently make for the Maxima) and a race spring.
Your best bet would be to talk to H&R and see if they could produce
the O.E sport for Maxima's.

I installed a set of these on my sister's 90 Accord and also installed the H&R OE Sport springs on my friends' cars. They lower the car just right and offer the same performance as the Sport series springs (1.3-1.5" drop). The Maxima would benefit greatly from a .8-1.1" drop since the front end has so much overhang...peopple with body kits know exactly what I'm talking about. RWD cars like the BMW, IS300, and Audi's have an engine that is mounted more to the center of the body and not at the front. Advantage is the front wheels can sit more towards the front of the car, reducing overhang.
JIC Magics seems like the best way to go right now but it's just the cost that sets everyone back.

I dont think that wheel gap means performance.

I'm not concerned as much about how the car looks. I want it to truly handle well. The Maxima has very little wheel travel that can be sacrificed to begin with. If we could get a much stiffer spring that didnt cost any wheel travel and combine that with the excellent KYB AGXs, I think the Max would handle incredibly. It may still look lame, but the handling would rock.

If you dont lower the maxima, it is UGLY + 1. Coming to work saw this 97-99 max fully waxed cleaned bling bling stock but the darn wheel gap was looking ugly as hell. Nissans need to learn something.

seriously consider JICs then!!! I've ridden in couple of cars so equipped, Brian cobymoby was able to get a beautiful combo of drop/ride/handling- the other car with JICs Turbomax's is 'slammed' (relative term for the Maxima community haha) and it still rides decently and doesnt bottom out even if it is stiff
