Umm, I just got my oil changed, I would change it myself but I have to get a shop to do it for me, or it will void my warranty, I have to keep the recipts and stuff. I really wanted to use 10w30 redline oil. I was wondering if you could mix this with regular oil, or do you have to use them seperatly becuase the redline is pretty expensive. Also how many quarts of oil do you have to replace in a forth gen maxima. I have 69000 miles on it, and I want to keep working for as long as I can becuase I run it very hard.

Yes I have an autocrapic, but I was looking at the auto transmission fluid from redline and how many quarts of that would you have to use. I really need to flush my transmission becuase its showing signs of slipping and I really can't stand it. Well thank you if you answer my questions.

 

You will not void your warranty if you change the oil yourself. Just keep receipts of the parts and make a log of it. To answer your questions - yes, you can mix redline oil (the bottle probably says compatible with conventional oils). As for ATF, it will take 5 qts of Redline D4 ATF to do a drain and refill. A flush with the T-tech machine at Jiffy Lube will require 12 qts. The transmission only holds 10 qts, but the T-tech requires 12 to work.

 

The Infiniti dealer I bought the warranty done from said I had to get all work done by a shop or it will void my warranty. LAst time I got something fixed theyd didn't even check all my recipts or anything, maybe I can get away with it. So if I do the transmission flush myself it will need 5 quarts just to refill? And if I do the flush at Jiffylube I will need 12 quarts, damn thats like 100 dollars for flush and 100 dollars for liquid.

 

They cannot void your warranty (I'm assuming it's an extended one too) because you work on the car yourself. Just document the changes. Besides, the odds of a lubrication related failure are extremely low.

You can mix Redline with conventional oil's, but when you do so, you dilute most of the properties you just paid $8.95/quart for. It won't hurt anything, but you don't really gain much either, especially considering the cost difference.

Spend the money ASAP to flush the tranny. If you don't, you'll end up paying a whole lot more later on to rebuild the thing.

Redline's benefits stem only from serious street/track racing. Unless you are doing that, it's a waste of money. Purchase Amsoil from iwannabmw or Mobil 1 at a local place if you want a good quality synthetic oil. Otherwise, use Castrol GTX conventional oil.

Amsoil and Mobil 1 both make good quality synthetic ATF.

 

I just want the best protection, becuase I run the hell out of my car, even on the street, I my average speed is about 70. And on the feder I get up to about 110 untill the next light. I mean, I drive my car really hard, my foot is like never off the gas. I think I should do that auto tranny flush soon. Maybe after I get my rims, and I have a warranty so it can go ka-boom for all I car.

Averaging 70mph? Top speed on an interstate in Louisiana is 70mph. SLOW DOWN. Ever seen a car hit a light pole at 70mph head on?

When you see those 2 "horriable" wrecks a day, do you help pull the dead bodies from the cars, or help look for the ejected bodies? Do that one time and it will cure that "need for speed".

Pretty good "river"? So is the Ohio and the Mississippi, but they travel relatively slow. And they also have the benefit of always having the right of way. If you meant driver, I whole-heartedly disagree. Your statement of averaging 70mph and hitting 110mph between lights, with your "foot like never leaving the gas" proves beyond a reasonable doubt that you lack necessary judgement to drive a 3000 car.
And being 18 years old, I doubt that you have acquired the necessary skills and experience to handle a car at those speeds when something goes wrong (no offense intended to other younger drivers who show good judgement).
Have you attended any driving schools (high school drivers ed doesn't count)? Something like the NAPD (National Academy of Professional Drivers) Tactical Police Driving to learn necessary skills?
The Maxima is a fine car, but it is not an all out sports car. For those type of speeds, the brakes are way too weak, suspension too plush, body/frame too weak, etc... And, I don't think it was ever intended to handle the abuse you admit to putting it through. I would think that driving at speeds like you say you do will put a tremendous amount of stress/wear on mechanical parts (engine, transmission, suspension). Of course this wear is greatly accelerated when you hit something at 70+ mph.
But to your questions, I would recommend never taking your car to the dealership you spoke of. I would use a good quality synthetic oil (Mobil 1, Amsoil) with a good oil filter (Mobil 1, STP, Bosch, Nissan OEM, Amsoil) with frequent changes because of your driving style. A synthetic transmission fluid (Amsoil, etc) and possibly a transmission cooler may extend the life of your transmission.
I don't know about Texas law, but here in Louisiana you'd go straight to jail for hitting 110mph between lights just for the traffic violations. Hit something, or God forbid kill a person, and "Bubba" will be checking your oil with his dipstick regularly for years to come.

Umm my grandpa taught me how to drive, umm he worked on funny cars for about 20 years. He does all kind of driving. That does not mean much but the apple does not fall from the tree.
