Cracked the tranny right above the shaft..where should I look for a new one. HELP:(

Well today all kinds of stuff has been happening around my family and on my way back on Jimmy carter the worse happens. I feel a tack tack tack, and then you guys know me, I see a prelude at the light and the car pulls strong as usual but then I slammed my brakes and punched it and that was a wrap. Clunk clunk clunk and then my father gets off the car and tells me take it easy something is smoking. Make it all the way to my house. I jack it up grab the light look under and I see a crack right at one clock above the shaft. At first I thought it was the axle but now I now I know I need to get a new tranny for sure. got three options

1. buy a brand new tranny from Nissan
2. get a tranny with a LSD
3. get a used tranny and Briguys quaife

the question is where can I get a tranny at a good deal and how much would a brand new tranny would run me ?

I did have two upcoming projects MEVI and then injector upgrade that I bought three days ago. I still have not even got the parts for the ME VI.

any input would be appreciated.

Hey Jaime, sorry to hear that. I say either #2 or #3, don't even try with #1. So #2 or #3, whichever is cheaper.

Hey Jaime, I am in the same boat as you. I need a new tranny as well. I think that I am gonna find a cheapo tranny from a junkyard, get Shadows Vitek Differential, so do that. It will cost under a $1000.00, hopefully. I will be one of the few to actually use the Vitek differential.....

No not doing the LSD, I just purchased a tranny from South Carolina for $1050 23K miles, I needed one ASAP, so it should be here by Friday and friday is when Ill pull it off the car. Today, Wed and thurs Ill be removing everything surrounding the tranny, and Friday Ill loosen the 17MM bolts and just pull it off and slide the new one in there. For now I am driving a CRX that has a engine swap. I fixed this CRX it had a hole in the engine block and just cost me $8 to fix with the material I used and he only paid $375 for the car .
