Is there somwhere I can find out what bands of radar my local and state police use? I am in Mass. but I wanted to know if there was a database somewhere or if this was public information. I just ordered a passport 8500 and it allows you to turn off individual bands. It would be nice to turn off the X band to get rid of the majority of the false alarms but if the local police still use x than . I also wanted to know how many laser guns where in use in my state.

The only place I've ever encountered a cop using X-band was in rural Oklahoma, pretty much every major police force moved to K and a while ago and are starting to move towards Ka.
I leave X-band on with my 8500, but I turn down the sensitivity so that doors don't generally set it off unless they're way overpowered.

One way to find out is to use freedom-of-information rules.
To get the radar guns, they probably went to public tender. If they did, who won the tender should be available.
Otherwise just peek in to a parked cruiser, the gun may be visible.
