Sorry but that is regular price. Group deals are normally around 35-45 for 2-3 runs.

What type of DYNO? Ours is the top end with every option.

The going rate @ Stillen $100.00 per hour and in the regional area $150.00 per hour.

Regards

Paul,
EIP Tuning uses the same dynojet, a 248.

One run takes about 15-20 minutes, so you're basically charging $200 per hour, twice the rate of Stillen.

Rice,

Until we have it up and running ( in about a week ) we can then estimate actual time per car.

Does that 15-20 miuntes per car include set up time?

Regards

My personal experience (which is about 100 dyno runs on various cars) is that it takes about 15 minutes to set up and take down the car. Each run thereafter takes a very short period (less than 20 seconds). The most time spent on the dyno is waiting for the car to cool down, if this is desired.

Ive made over 20 runs in a single hour on a DynoJet 248C.

The normal price at the shop I go to here in Florida is around $50 for 3 runs. On an hourly basis its $75.

On special "dyno days" for local car clubs, its $30 for 3 runs.

Update

Thanks for the input.... guys.. We start testing late next week. After we get some actual times determined, we will set up a good deal for the forum.

Thanks for mostly constructive comments.

Regards

Top dyno?! LOL dude, a DYNO JET is a DYNO jet, just newer versions. They BASICALLY all do the SAME exact thing. I would not pay you 50 dollars a run period and no one here would.

Okay, 5 min to set up, 10 min to do 3 runs, and disconnect. I don't care if it takes 30 min, it doesn't matter on a group deal, its either 35-45 for 3 RUNS PERIOD.

Except on the RX7s!

We had one RX7 get strapped to the dyno during our Z dyno day, the problem was finding the spark plug wire LOL It took about 15 min!

On most cars, it takes about 2 minutes to pull on the rollers, strap & secure it down, then another 1-2 minutes to hook up the computer to the spark plug wire. After that, it depends on who drives the car. If the Tech does it, then it'll go quicker because they know how to operate the on/off switch and how to slow the car down (shift into neutral then hit the stop switch on the dyno. the rollers slow down the wheels). 3 runs takes about 5-7 minutes, with a minute in between to allow a slight cooldown. Removal of the car takes about 2-3 minutes.

Yeah I remember that RX7 >>>>.

it was the nice Yellow one that had the Peter Farrell stuff on it. If I remember correctly it took a while to find the spark plug wire, then when they did finally find it, that thing made like 315 RWHP !!!!!! I remember talking to the owner and he said that this was his 2nd engine and that it took him a LONG time to get that car tuned correctly, he had to get it towed several times to the dealership, but man that was a very sweet car with the OZ Mitto Modular 3 piece rims. Oh yeah the owner said that he runs low 12's in the quartermile.

the OZ Mito Modular wheels have been around for awhile (6+ years) but they age gracefully! It's a wheel that'll still look good in the years to come

you guys gotta understand...

how much those dynos cost! (let alone the assoc. equip)
i'm sure this guy wants to start seeing some income from his enormous investment.
those prices are NOT ridiculous...no matter what you may think....true they are not "special" prices...but not ridiculous in any way.
personally, i pay $125 for the first hour, $100 every additional hour...but that includes use of the wideband O2 sensor and about 30 years tuning experience under my hood and on the computer tuning my DFI.

Yeah...nothing wrong with a guy trying to make a profit! A Dynojet 248 runs about $40k and another $1500 for the wideband O2 sensor. Gotta get that back somehow....

Re: you guys gotta understand...

Yea he will get his money back over time, but not right away. He won't rip people off for $50 per run. If it was $50 for 3 runs that is the NORMAL rate.

How come Dynos are so expensive? Why is the equipment so expensive? I would think it would be a simple affair...however I've never seen a Dyno is person so I wouldn't really know.

I was just surprised at the prices! (but then i'm a cheap bastard!) =)
