What color to repowdercoat wheels?

Well two of my wheels have bends so I am going to get them all repowdercoated. Please help me decide as I like them all equally and I am having a hard time picking one.

Gunmetal would be good. Where are you gonna get them done? I need to get mine done as well and we are in the same area. (sorta)

I'm hoping to get mine done by March, I am probably going to have to drive up to D.C. (the only local place asks $150/rim, and in D.C. there is much more competition so there it's like $80/rim). If I could find a mailorder place to do it for $80 shipped/rim I would do it. I remember there used to be a guy in the For Sale forum who did them for $60 but when the forums got splitup that among other threads was lost.

Don't you need to repair the bends first? Most wheels repair shop only paint and do not powdercoat.

Yes I've got a local guy who will repair them, but I will only go to a shop that powdercoats (only one local which charges $150 a pop , so looks like I'm headin' up to D.C.) since they were powdercoated to begin with.

Are you sure they were powdercoated to begin with? Not many wheel manufacture powedercoat their wheels. None of the wheel repair shops around here powedercoat.

I'm 75% sure they were originally powdercoated, but it looks like I'm going to have them normally repainted at Ye Ole Wheel shop, I am not going to pay $150 a wheel for my local place to do it and YOWS said $85 a piece, which seems reasonable. Anyways right now I am leaning towards painting them body colors, I think it's pretty unique and would look good on a darker colored car.

Do not get body color. Stick with flat black, silver or gunmetal.

It may seem like a good idea but you'll get sick of it.

I'm not really worried about that because I clean my rims about 4 times a week.

I need to look up the name of the place that powdercoated all the accessories for my jeep. A huge 3 peice brish guard was only $75. That was to strip it and powdercoat it. $150 a wheel is ape. You could ALMOST buy new rims for that much (I said ALMOST).

Was this place in Manassas? There are only few powdercoating shops in the area willing to do non-production work. There was one in Chantilly, but I forgot the name.

No, it was in falling waters, WV. That is about 90 minutes west of where we live. For that kind of money, it would be worth the drive. They were fairly fast, too, but the work was top-notch.

I would appreciate their number. A shop up in northeastern Maryland will do them for $65-$80 a piece, but I'd prefer if I didnm't have to drive so far.
Thanks,

It is called "ASAP Powdercoating" and it is in Falling Waters, WV, but may be listed in Hedgesville, WV. I am working on a # now.

If you call there, tell them that you got their # frome a customer who had a brushguard done for his Jeep, and that it was $75. I had it done in July, 2001. They may not remember, but that will let them know that you have certain expectations as to price...

By the way, if you are going to do them in gunmetal, let me know- I may go in on that too. They will lower the cost per rim if we have more stuff to do in the same color.

Thanks for the number, but I didn't realize they were in West Va Since I'm in the Tidwater area that may be quite a trip for me, I'll have to call and see. Anyways I think I'm going with Ruby Pearl.
Thanks again,

Falling waters, WV is in the area of WV that is between MD and VA just north of Winchester and south of Hagerstown. It is right by Martinsburg, if you are looking @ a regional map. I-81 passes w/in about a mile of Falling Waters.
