Deformed Body Kit

I just received my body kit today. The sides were folded in half, and the front and rear pieces had the ends folded in to fit into the box. When I pull them out they want to stay in the folded position. Other than that, they look alright. If I let them sit out for a day or two will they go back to their original shape or do I have to weigh the ends down? I would like to have the pieces look normal before I get them painted. Or could the shop fix them? To those that have to gone through this, what did you do?

Thanks.

Re: Deformed Body Kit

from what I've read around here, the shop will fix them before painting/installing them... apparently they look pretty bad out of the box but they'll look good on the car.

just straighten them out and leave them that way for a few days...if that doesn't do the trick, move them to a sunnier area and heat them up for a few minutes with a blow dryer...they will go back to their original shape in a little bit

well, hopefully you got the Stillen kit and not the Sarona. Otherwise, it would not be good or it to be bent

If you have a blowdryer and some free time, warm up the pieces and try and straighten them up as best you can. That will be one less thing that the body shop will have to mess with

Mine came the same way. Spend an hour or two with a hair dryer or a heat gun (be careful with the heat gun, that's actually a tad *too* hot) and go over the kit. The material retains its original shape if heated, so it should bend back to its proper form with some work. If installing yourself, you should keep whatever you used handy for putting it on the car, as you may need to bend it slightly to fit perfectly on your vehicle.
