Gear ratios

Does anyone know the 5 gear ratios for a 4th gen 5spd and the 6 for a 2k2 6spd? Did a quick search but could find anything but I didn't search that hard cause the sever is loaded up.

interesting thought... just curious if you can switch the trans on any max from any other nissan... im guessing yes, because such is the case with BMW's.... but obviously you would kill either your topspeed, or acc. ...but maybe this is the way to get a NA auto 4th gen into 14's, maybe 13's or what have you.

www.nissannews.com has the full specs. They also have the older car specs as well if you go into the product archive section.

The gearing of the 6 speed Max is really no better than the 5 speed. I don't there would be any improvement if you could (you can't) bolt up a 6 speed to the 5 speed. All the 6 speed offers is a more effective overdrive. Now if Nissan would have made the final drive a 4.20 or something, the VQ would be wickedly stout, assuming you could keep it pointed straight. I think the fact that the 2k2+ Maxima/Altimas exhibit high amounts of torque steer is why Nissan didn't go with deeper gearing. FYI, gearing is simply torque multiplication.
