If your looking for speed-

2k2 fastest

close behind 95-96

then 97-99

then 2K and 2K1

And in case you're wondering why people are saying that the less poweful 190HP Max's are faster than the 222HP Max's, it's because they have....

1) 200lb less curb weight
2) SIGNIFICANTLY lighter rims (less unsprung weight)

i've seen stock 5th gen 5speeds in high 14s but i've never seen a stock 4th gen in the 14's, only low 15's... and remember, we're talking astock, not modded - 4th gens respond to mods better because of the upper end restrictions....

Why are you getting rid of the SpecV? That car will have more future mods than any of the Maximas and it's a 6-speed unlike the 5-speed Maximas.

I think you are going to take a really huge hit on your Spec V because it's a 2003 and you are already trading it in. Sell it PRIVATE if you decide to let it go.

5th gen 5spds have run as good of times as 4th gens, just not as consistently. It depends on what you want it for. A 4th gen has more mods available, and for cheaper, and it also weighs less, which helps if you want to do something major. I personally prefer the lines on the 5th gens, which is why I have one, but that's personal preference and completely up to you. If you want better performance though, go for a 4th gen.

one of the reasons he is getting rid of the spec is that they will have no mods that require forceed air induction. Because of the 2.5 won't hold up

I drive a 98 and a 2k regularly. I would have to recommend a 2k here. 2k has lot more interior room, and standard MEVI.
I hate to say this, but the styling of the 4th gens are getting old ! 5th gen has really grown on me and I really like how it looks.

However, 2k or 2k1 cannot be compared to the monster low-end torque of 4th gens. I have driven 5spd 4th gen and 5spd 2k. The 4th gen has gobs of low end, and feels lot more sporty.

Go with the 4th Gen

Find a 99 5spd SE-l, super fast, ligter than 5th gen, more mods, more hp, The Spec V is just a Spec V unless you sawp the motor, or turbo, But Maxima is Maxima, a lot more room and everything, but one warning, GAS, WTF is wrong with this car man, i waste all my frekin hard earned money i have to save for parts on gas, but this is easily avoidible if you dont like to hear the roaring vq, (IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANY TO RESIST, Unless Gay)

4th Gen has more room.. ask steve why it took him so long to buy a maxima.. 4th Gen is more comfortable for people over 6ft 3 inches.. blame that stupid mid console in the 5th Gen..

5th Gen's don't have MEVI.. they have a cheap plastic Variable intake and that fact that 4th Gen's walk 5th Gen's without MEVI... then getting one would just blow 5th Gen's out the water

That's a big difference between 16s and 17s for the 5th gen....

bigger is not better!

kind of makes me feel better in my own little personal way.. J/K!
