My Maxima sucks!!!
Today I got my car running (finally) after installing the new turbo. It is throwing engine codes. Seems that the oxygen sensors are shot ... probably cos it was so rich!. Well I dynoed today and made a poultry 429.7 HP and only 395.9 lb-ft of torque. I have a misfire on my number 5 cylinder that I have to investigate too. I'll post the dyno soon!
Many people ask me what I run in the quarter mile ... I HAVE NOT RUN THE QUARTER MILE YET! When one can break one's wheels loose at 55 mph one tends not to care
My injectors are at their absolute limit here. We finally got A/F ratios for tuning! I am running a little lean up top. If I could richen it up a little it would make more!
The lower HP at the top end is with VI closed. The 429 was with VI open
Oh and for you guys who said a T4/TO4E was too big and laggy. The T4/60-1 should be more laggy .... well I make 170HP and 170 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm which is more than I had with the TO4E. I have more power everywhere!
There's a comparison below from an old dyno compare chart I had. I don't know how it is possible, but here it is:

Nigel,
I hope to God your not running 12.5psi consistently. The VQ is a strong motor but nearly 500 crank HP on a stock VQ is REALLY pushing it. I don't think these little V6's can take any more punishment!!! If you do, then I am amazing, and you need to contact Motor trend or some major mag and tell them about your accomplishments. The VQ is in need of some major recognition. Kids, we have a world class 6 cylinder in our family cars here!

Dude
I think you underestimate our motors. I have turned the boost down a touch to 11 psi for daily driving. It still makes 417 HP which is OK for daily driving . The only reason I did that was cos I am running a little lean up top. Once I swap the injectors, that boost is going up baby! Add a small shot of nitrous too! The boost will go up until the motor or something else gives. I am starting my motor build (finally) I have decided on Arias pistons and Eagle rods. I won't do any head work just yet ... heads are easier than bottom ends.

Well, the custom power curve option in CarTest isn't cooperating with me on your dyno for some reason, so I bypassed it and got something pretty close...
1/4 mile: 12.8 @ 124
And you run out of RPM's and gears in only 20.6 seconds
Got traction?

How fast will he potentially be at 20.6 seconds? just wondering...

My custom engine power curve works just fine. The results are 60' of 2.1x, 0-60 4.5sec, 1/4 12.6 @ 120mph. Cartest also shows around 1sec of wheelspin in 2nd gear and about 0.75sec of wheelspin in 3rd gear. Assuming you had traction, it should run low 12s @ 120mph. If you had a drag suspension and tires the car should run 11s with 1.7-1.8 60's.

And when do the CO Maxima guys get to go for a ride again???? hehe, that first ride last year at the RPM shop was amazing and you only had 4 lbs of boost then, I cant imagine this thing now with 150+ more HP!!!!!
Congrats on that!!! That is simply amazing stuff.....

Well cartest shows that it would take 19.0sec to hit the rev limiter in 5th gear from a 20mph rollon. With more traction (AWD or slicks) it would only take 18.4sec to hit the rev limiter. The wheelspin shows an increase of 4 tenths on the 1/4 ET. So instead of pulling 12.2s you'd be running 12.6s+.

I'm planning on possibly doing a turbo 4th Gen at the end of this year, but i want stable reliable power. Would you guys think 8PSI would be a good number to boost to?
This is gonna be an everday driver. I just want 300hp at the wheels
Great job Nigel, that would be sweet to ride in no doubt

Wow, those numbers are just insane. Congrats.
If I was to get a turbo, I'd be more concerned about all around power. 430fwhp and 400fwtq is wicked, but as you've stated, there is some driveability issues with traction and hard hitting boost. I'd like to find a turbo that can give me solid torque from 2000-5000rpms and linear boost from 2000-6500rpms. 300fwhp and equal torque would definately put the "fear of God" in some other car owners minds. Your dyno charts remind of a single turbo Supra to a degree. Awesome all out power, but weak road course performance due to the lag in the lower rpms.
Too bad you're not an experience auto-x/-1/4 mile guy because I'd say turn down the boost a bit and enter into the SCC Ultimate street car challenge.

the kits are setup the same.. you just have to find the right turbo for what application you are looking for.. big single for highway... or smaller for stop lights
