question about paint/wax... w/ PICS!

Hmm... I thought we had a car detail/care forum by now... anyways...

after spending a couple of hours late nite in the garage waxing the car TWICE... it was perfect weathers for pics! This is the best job I've done so far haha. Regardless of hte fact that my car has many rock chips and dents I wanted to know how I could really get that "mirror" finish.

Check out the pics I'm gonna put up... what's up w/ the distortion in the reflection? Is that the wax or the paint is bad?
What can I do to make it more clear... or do I just need a new paintjob? So many question, thanks for any help!

Oh, and one more pic w/ my car hehe

Altho tho sides kinda suck, The hood, roof, and trunk look really nice... damn having a clean car really lifts spirits. Too bad it's probably gonna rain soon =(

I just thought of something, would claybar-ing the car help w/ that distortion? I'm using Zymol wax. I waxed it once yesterday but I only gave it 10 min to dry lol (im a no0b at this). So after getting scolded by a friend about it, I went back and waxed the car and left it to haze for half hour, then removed half it and the other half this morning. I don't know how long I should leave the wax to haze... any advice? I looked on the bottle, it just says "after a while". thanks!

Just post it at www.Autopia.com and you'll get a better answer much faster. To answer your question, there are waxes you can buy that will leave a deeper and more concise shine, but they won't last as long and cost much more. Pinnacle Souveran is one of them. If you use a general Wax you pick up at autostores like Zymol or Mother's, it will last you much longer, but the shine will not be as good. I've used 'em all, and since I clean my car so often I like to use the nicer, deeper waxes. But I'll warn you now - not only do they cost more per application, but they last half as long so you'll be buying two tubs.

i'm a detailer - black is the hardest color to take of. but it looks the best after a good coat of meguires carnuba wax. ask max4speed and esfooni23, they know.

what your describing sounds like orange peel from when the car was painted, show cars get that glass look by wet sanding that off (although most good painters can shoot a car with very little orange peel) you could compound the car and then wax it again, that may help.

I would definitely try clay-barring it and then take a look. It really does make a big difference.
