Need to repaint a door... 1 question
Ok theres a few marks on my rear driverside door that is forcing me to repaint the door. Now i'm worried if I take it to a body shop to do the door, it will somehow be a different shade of black, or lighter/darker. Can a dealer paint it? And how much would this run me? Thanks
trying to get a door painted
myself after this freaking horrible snow storm. I accidentally opened the door and slammed it into a metal pole. That of course left a nice dent and the paint is cracked--so, it looks like I need to get the baby repainted...
I wonder if they have to repaint the entire door?

repaint.
They will have to repaint the entire door to get it to match. Some shops will want to fade into the rear fender and front door as well, some won't. The goods ones will in order to get a good match. They didn't do that to mine the first time and it didn't match at all due to the age of the paint.
Some other shops will just paint to the trim piece and be done with it. I would walk away from those folks
If your car is newer they can probably paint just the damaged door and it will be fine. If it's 3+ years old they have to fade it because the paint has faded a bit over the years and the only way to make it match is to fade into surrounding areas.
To do the door only I would bet under $200. To do the fading method I would say maybe 3-$400. If they just do the are up to the trim piece that should be about $100. If you want to do that route call me and I'll screw it up for ya for $75..hell, thats what they are going to do to you if you let them take that route
Hope it helps!
