I still don't know what this EGR temp sensor is that you're talking about. If you're talking about the device that connects to the drivers side of the intake manifold, then that's just the EGR tube. You need to remove the throttle body and IACC sensor in order to get to the EGR. I believe it's secured by two 12mm bolt and WASHERS (don't loose them). Unfortunately you'll need to get three new gaskets to accomplish this task. The throttle body gasket, IACC gasket, and a EGR gasket (maybe two if you're removing the whole tube assembly). I know that when Travis in Joplin was installing his MEVI, he noticed his EGR tube was completely full of carbon and clogged. Mine was just black with carbon, but had no build up or clogging.

Who said you needed to work on the EGR system? Did the car give you a code saying to replace a EGR temp sensor?

when i was racing John a couple weeks ago my car threw the code 0305 (EGR Temp Sensor) my car has been doggy ever since.

heres another question for you....if that sensor is bad would it trip the CEL again after i cleared it a couple weeks ago? i went to check my ecu for codes just a minute ago and it didn't show it but it showed 0802 and 0407 which are both the crank sensors that i just cleaned. the light wasn't tripped or anything. i just checked it and they were there.
