what year.

if this is the 5th gen.. start at the aC vent on top.. take a putty knife if u have on.. if not a flat head screw driver wrapped in cloth to prevent scratchin' the interior. inserd flat head at the gap on either the right or the left of the AC vent. pry out. it's takes some time.. yank the whole thing out straight. then u take out your ash tray. it'll reveal a screw.. after undoing the screw, pry the dash trim around the shifter by inserting the screw driver inot the gaps on the right or the left of the shifter.. not thetop.. engage the shift lock mechanism so you can put the car into 1. so you can remove that trim peice.. yank on it (auto) no need to do this for 5spd. disconnect the hazzrd light harness and the ash tray light. and cig lighter. there are four screws that will then b revealed. two on top where the ac vent was, two on bottom where the trim peice is was. i hope this was what u wanted..

i'm still in taiwan right now.. ohhh no if it's the 4th gen then i'm not too sure.. b careful. don't pry the panels too hard. if it doesn't wanna come out then there's probably a screw holding it in..

g'luck

Give this link a shot ->

<A HREF = "https://maxima.org/shoptalk/sub_modifications/mod_i30_pt1/index.shtml">https://maxima.org/shoptalk/sub_modifications/mod_i30_pt1/index.shtml</A>

It details how I took apart the tray compartment right underneath the radio. I'm not sure if it's the radio that you're trying to take apart or the whole dash, but maybe this will help....
