Japanese Video....JSPEC, NISMO, etc.

I wish we had some JSPEC nissan's over here. There are some pictures of a few Silvia's, etc. Probobly one of the best driving videos I've seen in a while.

Hope its not too off topic. There are alot of Nissan and Nismo stickers, NISMO, and Silvia stuff in the video.

Don't blame Nissan, blame the US with their emmission and safety related guidlines

When I open the video and saw 22 mins I was like, no freaky way, that can't be correct. But sure enough, after 22 mins I was finally able to blink and close my mouth.

Even though I absolutely have no idea what that "first" drivers was saying, it felt like I understood every word.

I didnt see much drifting on the roads but lots of very fast cars driving at high speeds. The cars have an alarm after a certain MPH it kicks in sounds like an annoying thin, thin, thin type noise. And every weekend in Hiroshima 40mins of where I live most of the dudes with pimped rides just cruise around. You can hear their BOVs when they drive by.

Hmm...rally driving on a road circuit?
Very nice driving but anyone driving like that in a race would 1) have awful track times and 2) would be kicked off after half a lap for not keeping his line.

These guys are obviously fooling around and having fun. I wish I could fool around like that with the Max...Damn heavy a$s FWD car

Um, this isnt 'rally driving' its Drifting, This a form of racing in Japan. I believe the object is not to get to the finish line the fastest but to take each corner as far sidways as possible.... The best 'drifter' or 'drifting team' wins....

You went here? I got a few to work but there all streams... and I 4got how I used 'decode' and save em...

Drifting can be thought of like figure skating. Its about style and flare, not about going fast. There are drift clubs and sanctioning bodies and "seasons" with different events at various tracks over there, just like there are sanctioning bodies and competitions for figure skating over here. You get awarded points by a panel of judges and whoever wins the competition gets points just as if they had won a race, 2nd place gets the 2nd most points, etc. At the end of the season whoever has the most points is the champion. Just because it uses cars doesn't mean that "times" or the "correct line" have anything to do with it, just like just because figure skaters use skates and ice doesn't mean they are out there to lap the rink as fast as they can or score a goal, they are out there to be judged. You have to understand this about drifting before you make the false assumption that they are just "screwing around" because that's not what they're doing, they are competing.

Yes, I know what "drifting" and "rally" driving is.
I was making a joke. I guess it must have been a really attrocious one.

However, I will admit I did not know "drifting" was actually a type of competition in Japan. Do they have judges or something???
If they do, then I wouldn't like it. I can't stand any sport that requires judging.

As I replied to MAXIN, I was not aware they had drifting competitions in Japan. And as I said to MAXIN as well, I can't stand any sport that involves judges

I agree with you there, I'd much rather be involved in a sport that has a clear cut winner based on objective results, rather than based on the sunjective opinions of a panel. Thats why I play hockey and race cars, not figure skate and drift cars

it's really a personal opinion about sports and some people prefer the "clear-cut" sports. but some sports is really a form of art. without the taste (and the judges), people wouldn't enjoy the X games, figure skating, basketball dunking contest, etc.

I agree it's a personal opinion. I was just stating mine (whether or not people wanted to hear it ) that I do not prefer sports that involve judges.
