Since I had ordered pilot sport a/s and they are not coming off backorder anytime soon I am looking at ES100's. I was wondering how much I should look at paying mounted balanced etc... They are giving me a quote of like $628 for 4. Does that seem high or is it about right on target for what I should expect to pay. Matt

I bought these tires for my mom's 330i from tirerack. They are really sticky when the temperature is warm and they are great in the rain. When it gets cool out, they start to lose traction. This is due to the fact that they are Summer only tires, so if it snows dont buy them. I have driven them in the snow and they could barely get up my driveway, which is basically flat. They were $105 per tire for 245/40/17s, which is a steal. Great tires for the price IMO

Well it snows here about twice a year so snow isn't a problem. However it is cold 20-30's on the winter nights. They may loose traction once it gets colder but as far as traction wise in cold I hope they beat out the re92's. Any other tires that are comparable and below $140 a tire please let me know b/c I plan to purchase this coming monday from discount tire. Matt

I have 235/45/17 BFGoodrich G-Force KWDS tires on my Maxima. They are a great tire all around. I took them road racing and they were pretty compitent. They are awesome in the wet and much better than the RE92s in the snow. They are pretty cheap also. I think I paid ~110 per tire for them.

Just got off the phone with discount tire and the total per tire is going to be 128.56 which inclused lifetime balancing, valve stem replacement, rotation, etc... and for $16 per tire free replacement. Sound like a fair deal

That's a shame that ES100's require winter tires, because they sure look good on paper. I guess most of us don't want to bother with 2 sets of rims/tires anymore, that's old school, unless you live in New England.

Anyway, although they are way far from latest/greatest, Sumitomo HTR+ are excellent all-around. Yesterday's snow was once again no problem, even before PennDOT showed up. Of course on the way to work there were 2 vehicles off the road, both SUV's. Really impresses me every time that an 18" tire can go in the snow like the stockers. If you need all-season, I recommend them until something better comes along (Pilot A/S too costly imho).

Which tire did you quote? I bought mine at tirerack and had them mounted/balanced at Discount. If you buy them at Tirerack, you dont pay sales tax, which saves you a good deal of money.

Discount tire charges $25 to mount and balance in my area. They also include the lifetime tire repair ,etc. You will save the amount of sales tax you would pay @ Discount(not sure on your %) if you bought the tires online at tirerack.

I bought those tires over the summer also. I live in Alabama so the poor snow traction is no big deal. I have noticed some traction loss in the very cold weather such as pealing out when I start off more than usual. I paid 108 each for 235/45/17's at tirerack.com and then paid 60-70 for the lifetime rotation/balance/flat repair plan at Goodyear which included mounting.

I have these on stock 99se wheels in 225/55/16 I paid 85 a peice on tirerack.com and shipped was 400 then paid a local shop 50 bucks to install with insurance. so 450 installed. These are touchy in super cold weather. However they are super quiet for such a sticky tire, and yes they are great in the rain. I recommend them.

I have had the ES100 on my 3rdGen since 11/02. (225/50-15) No complaints at all. They have a very high level of wet and dry grip. However, they are fairly noisy, at least compared to my old AVS dB. Also, the wear rating is 280 and they mean it. I went through 3/10ths of the tread on my front tires in about 2 months. (4500 miles) However, this was probably largely due to my shot control arm bushings and badly worn Tokicos.

Yeah i had them on my last car and they were a GREAT tire, superb in the rain, those are the ones im buying when i get rid of these horrible, horrible all-season POS i have one now....

I just dont like the 300 tread rating for the size im getting, my all-season have a 540 tread rating

I've noticed some of you putting 235/45/r17 tires on the stock 17" factory rims. I've got a 2000 SE that I just picked up and its going to need new summer tires sometime next summer. How do the 235/45/17s fit on the 5th gen body? Is there any rubbing anywhere? and does it change the circumference at all? ie, messing up the speedo a little?? Its just 225/50/r17 are a pain in the *** to find in a decent tire, unless I want the factory Bridgestones on there! ack!

2% is livable. Have lots of people opted for this route to open up more options for tire models. I think tirerack showed 49 tires for 235/45/17 where 225/50/17 just shows a handful. I'm concerned about handling and tire rub on the body or frame...
