How much did everything cost you in the end?

The difference in power is really amazing. I got an Act clutch and Stillen STS installed also and boy does that act really grab. I LOVE IT!! I will never drive an automatic again. My reverse lights work by the way, I got a 98 se ecu and therefore no cel light also or limiter. It definitely feels like it's a completely different car. I also had an OBX catback installed as well and that sounds great too. Jeff, thanks alot! He does excellent work! I'm a very happy customer! Guys sorry for the semi-long post but I'm just really excited about my conversion.

The labor for the coversion cost me $900 but I did alot of other things to. I added energy suspension bushings, a new radiator, replaced one of my struts and both of my strut tops, repaired both my oil pans which were leaking and a few other little things. I also didn't have all the conversion parts when I took my car to Jeff so had to order those too. The total was a little over $2100. It was well worth every penny.

where did you get the rebuilt tranny? how much?? I'm doing the conversion soon at Finishline. They said they could supply all the parts used but I want a dependable tranny. The only trannies I see out there are super high mileage. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

I got really lucky and was able to get the tranny for $200 from someoneone the org. He had just rebuilt it. My advice to you if your doing the conversion is try to find a crashed 5-speed maxima and take all the parts from it. Chances are it won't have high miles.

nismo2020, I'll probably do the 97-99 conversion in about a month when it's warmer.

By the way, it's 3100 rpms or so at 80 mph, not 70 Understandibly, it's high, but the VQ motor is so smooth it doesn't matter. And SteVTEC pointed out that the VQ really isn't working hard at all at those revs. I remember when my car was completely stock, crusing at 3000 to 4000 rpms in 5th, I never heard the motor, just wind and tire roar. With mods, I hear the motor a little more, but that's intake noise I'm hearing, not the mechanical noise of the motor.

All in all, the 5 speed swap may be expensive, but it's not like you hear anyone who's done it saying "I did the 5 speed swap, bummer"
