taking plastic/rubber off paint... dents... help!
Ok let's see... I need some help w/ body work / detailing.
My mom wants to give it to a shop, but before they do, I want to attemp to fix this myself. My mom backed her 2k Quest into my old car (89 celica). Argh, it really sucks cuz i just restored that car and she managed to scrape off the paint at the corner edge of the driver side mirror as she backed into it and side swiped it. Well, it's not so bad on the celica... can't really notice the minimal damage but the quest looks horrible. It looks like the plastic from the side mirror just melted or something and got smeared onto the side of the rear fender panel PLUS a bunch of different dents all in a line. It looks SO BAD. Well, I want to get rid of that plastic/rubber... I know it's not scratched because I can scratch the plastic/rubber if i try hard...
Does anyone recommend some sort of product out there that could get rid of the plastic stuff? I have tried claybaring... didn't help much, just took of a tiny bit of it.
As for the dents... I'm gonna get behind that panel and see if i can bang those out. Anyone recommend a method?
lol i'm just glad it wasn't my maxima parked on the driveway.

my trick was get a soft blunt wood like balsa or similar then soak it in water and either use water or quick detail spray and spray it over the rubber smear on teh car then get the wet wood and gently rub it over the smear and it will slowly rub it off. I had to do it a few times when I accidentally drove against the side of the garage and got red paint smeared off on the car.
