Allow myself to introduce myself
Hey
My name is David, Im 20 years old and I live in Rockville, MD. I got a turbocharged 97 Eclips GS and its not a good daily driver and I'm tired of it. My goal is to find a decently priced used car I could get running 13's all motor while still staying reliable. Definately considering a 4th gen maxima along w/ a couple other cars. Ready to learn so be gentle, Im a DSM guy. Gonna post more in 4th gen section about what I wanna do to the Maxima to see if its worth buying. TIA

Dont believe the hype
Mid 13's, not IMHO, high 13's with a good pilot maybe.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys. I will definately check out a local DC/VA/MD Max meet. You guys know where Rockville is? Its about 20 mins north of DC of 270 in Montgomery County. The turbo kit is made by Star Performance. Hahn Racecraft is the well known turbo kit for my car that some crazy Neons use. Hahn use's 16G and 20G's while Star (mine) uses a T3/T4.. mines an E-Trim. Turbo is fun but not reliable no matter what boost you run and once you start you gotta turn up the boost. Thanks Dave B for the prices and times. Still dont see why I couldn't knock of a couple tenths to add cams, LSD, throttle body and a intake manifold. Check my 4th post titled "anyone in 13's" Thanks Again.

I'm gona chime in on this one. First I'm in Harford County. I have a few friends with DSMs. Anyway if I were you, and I got a Maxima as a daily driver (in the situation I am in now it sorta works that way). I have a C5 Corvette which I recently disabled by driving into a curb. My Maxima used to be my mod it up go fast car. But now I'm using the maxima as (hopefully) reliable transportation while I repair the Corvette. My car went from mildly bolted on back to bone stock and honestly I like the max for it being bone stock. I can relax in it, dont care who i park next to, it gets decent MPG, does well/safer in the rain and GASP SNOW, has tires that dont cost $200 minimum a piece, its OK acceleration for a commuter car, and its refined in quiet vs. the Corvette.
You mentioned LSD. I had a Quaife differential in mine along with an ACT clutch. With that combination I blew the transmission 3 times within a year. So just be prepared. Although it should be fairly reliable, trouble spots include: CPS sensor dying ($100 part and a non starting car, fairly rare though but it happens), coil packs dying, transmission bearings improperly adjusted from factory and giving up (expensive repair).
You will also notice this but The headlights really really sux on the maxima. It also wont handle near as well as your DSM will.
But if you can put those aside The 4 gen might be a good choice. Its low resale value means it will benefit you as the buyer. Its by far from perfect. Personally i'd leave it stock and leave the $ left over to mod your real fun car.
