New here, what would you do?

New here, what would you do?
I'm the semi-new owner of a 1996 Maxima GLE. Its really nice. Champaigne is the official color of the car, but its really just gold. The leather is also the same color. Its got a nice Bose system (for being 7 years old), handles really well and is pretty fast. However, I know I can do a lot more to it.
My question is, to you, as a Maxima owner: what would you do this car if it were yours? It has absolutely no modifications to it now, its entirely stock. I definitely want to put a better sound system in it, but don't know which one I should use. I want to soupe the engine up, but how? I'm relatively new to cars, so you might have to take your time with me. Any suggestions are appreciated. The car has 63.5k miles on it, if that helps.
Thanks a ton!

What is your mod budget? I would try to put a intake and a ypipe in there for the performance. For sound, I dunno, I like the bose so I have been using that. It's enough stereo for me.

before messing with my car i thought it will be impossible since i always went to mechanic shop, yet the other day i installed struts at auto zone(it was really cold) i just followed the instructions from haynes.i will never go to mechanics again except for problems that will requere car to be lifted, its just fun to do it yourself and also cheap.

I think the relative weakness of this car is the handling. A few of my friends drive european cars (including an E46 SMG M3) and I just love how solid they feel even on terrible roads. I think this is where the max is clearly lacking. So, here is my mod list in order:
strut tower brace
sub-frame connectors
cattman rear sway bar
progress springs
KYB AGX shocks
Power mods will follow. Til then, I'll just have to get by on driving one of the best V6 engines in the world, stock.

If I were you I would do all the maintenance items that need attention. This will improve mpg and performance.
1. Plugs, use NGK PFRG5-11 Laser Platinum Plugs. You'll find them on
eBay for about $41 shipped for a set of 6.
2. Air Filter.
3. Gas Filter.
4. PCV Valve.
5. Clean Throttle Body.
6. Oil change, good time to switch to Synthetic oil. I like AMSOIL
but Mobil 1 and Redline are also excellent synthetics.
7. Flush tranny and consider conversion to Synthetic ATF. I like
AMSOIL but Mobil 1 and Redline are also excellent synthetics.
8. Flush Radiator and replace antifreeze.
9. Check brake pads.
10.Clean engine ground connections and battery cables and
connectors, I used Dremel tool, grinding stone and
stainless wire wheel.
There are several places you can get help to do these items yourself.
Keyword search on this site, www.motorvate.ca , Haynes Manual and
Factory Service Manual. It just makes sense to make sure your new car is running optimally before doing performance mods. I did all 10 of these items and it made a big improvement in MPG and performance. Then it is time for mods. If you do the work yourself your looking at around $350 in parts plus a lot of fun. If you have it done obviously it will cost more. Hope this helps!
