A sign saying your about to have a bad day
A sign saying your about to have a bad day
I am doing some maintenance on the max...
So I have the hood opened and am looking at something when I see my VI actuator arm moving back and forth.. HMMMM....
So I open my harlan RPM switch and WATER comes pouring out.
OUCH!!!! So I dried it off and cleaned it with alchol.. I hope it works.. we will see shortly.
and all I can think about is the time delay on harlans RPM switch

It gives me the reading for the RPM I set it at.. but it does not activate.. and I can't change the RPM setting.
So it looks like I need to buy another one.. which really is not that bad.. EXCEPT for the months I am about to wait to receive it..
So I will be looking around.. but from what I can remeber reading nobody has tried the other one .. and I think MSD makes it..

where exactly under the hood did you put it?

BUT I puled it out while doing something else about 1 week ago so I could tape both ends up... well before I could I got going on something else.
I had it in since july and zero problems!!
So it was near the OPEN part near the head light.. and there was pouring rain for a couple days here in atlanta
So I have just been
I would go ahead and mount switch under the dash when you get the new one. As for the MSD unit, you'll end up spending a lot of dough plus you'll need to send it off to MSD to get it configured for a single wire application.

as of now.. I might be able to get my switch to work.. alcohol and a tooth brush are making some headway.
I might call msd tomorrow to see what is the deal.
But I do think relocating it to the glove box will be in order
Try Compressed gas
What did you dry it with? I remember when my cordless phone fell in the tub, tried to turn it on (wet), nothing - completely dead. I grabbed a can of 'Dust Off' (compressed gas) and opened and sprayed the board and everything inside throughly, phone turned right on like nothing happened.

Let it air dry after a good wash in alchol. I might eb able to fix it. Upon close inspection the white wire, that feeds the activation switch, is corroded very badly. And it now will change and even lights up when I hit the selected RPM.
So I will try soldering a new wire to the board and hope that fixes it.
