first time hitting redline in 3rd gear today (auto)

....it makes me wanna get a manual so I have an extra gear to wind out. I was going 80 mph when I punched it and turned off the O/D button. Once it hit 5700 rpm.... WOW!! It's a totally different car, especially with the vq + injen screaming. It felt like the car had another surge of power as the VI kicked in... something I don't usually feel on the 1st and 2nd gears. This reminds me of that vid with pioneer (2k1) running the two 2k2's. Unfortunately I turned the O/D back on at the redline and the car shifted into its last gear.

Looks like you are having fun Larry. You need to take that sucker to the track, and see what it will do.

slickrick: um, I believe I was going at 12x-ish mph by the time it redlined and the O/D button went off

battle: I finally understand that when this lease ends imma gonna get myself a used 5spd highway monster. The debut will have to wait, but at least i'll be manning the grill to feed you guys.

fstmax: I don't wanna run at 16.1 like that stock 5th gen last time. No mods makes me less willing to run

I still need to get my max up that fast! But I'm always worried about the police. Someday on a lonley highway or track I will.

I like my 6-speed highway monster more. Saves me gas.

yea, I was scared at first.. but then I noticed that i was driving around for 10-15 minutes while only passing one to two cars. I thought about it for a couple of seconds and gave in to temptation

dany: I'd like a 2k2, but a 2k-2k1 with y pipe and working MAF is more tempting to me.

Have u blown a 2k-2k1 maf sensor yet or this is ur first 2k1 MAF sensor u have and all the 1z uv blown were 2k2 MAF sensors. The problems with the 2k2-3 is the only thing really keeping me from getting 1.

It was so weird cause the car was kind of lagging from the 4000-5600 rpm range till it hit 5700 rpm VI and then the tach starting going really fast and the engine changed pitch and next thing I know it's at 6600 rpm and I had to turn the O/D back on.

Too scared to do that again, but at least it was broad daylight, no cars, two lane highway, open road ahead for about 10 miles. It pays to live in the middle of nowhere.

I know exactly what you mean my closest neighbor is half a mile away...lol. the hwy i live on has about a 2 mile straight, I love pushing my baby to its straightline limits there. And her twisty limits on the back roads of the hwy... theres a road named seven mile rd, its only about 5.8 miles long and the straitest strech is only 1/4 mile

I don't have that much room to redline all my gears all the time. Redline in 3rd gear is already at 110 mph plus already.
