Question about Gas guage.

I noticed this today when I went to fill up. My needle was barely below the empty, but when I filled it up with premium (god, gas is expensive) I noticed that I had four gallons still in it. My light didn't come on, but was just wondering where everyones needle is at when their gas light comes on?

3.5-4 gal is about wher it lights on mine. I can easily get 60 miles, up to 90, when the light goes on.

Mine goes on at about 3.5 gallons left too. If its pointing at the "E" about 2 gallons and then it is hard to start. The trip computer seems to be just about dead on, though can't figure the point of the trip clock, you can't reset it. Chris

If you're talking about the trip "clock," the one that measures driving time you should be able to reset it by holding the Trip button on your steering wheel controls. If you mean the DTE (Distance To Empty) "clock" then it doesn't need resetting. Supposedly it calculates your DTE according to how much fuel there is in the tank vs. the way you've been driving, so it sort of resets itself when it sees a fuller tank.

Does anyone know HOW the gas light is controlled... It can't be by the position of the needle... When its -40 deg Cel, to up around -20 deg Cel my gas gauge is frozen on empty for 5 mins or so until stuff starts to heat up, and while its hanging out down there the gas light is not on... (cause I have a half tank or so)..
