Accident...

Hey all, i'm still new to this forum but i post when i can. last night a driver thought he would be a jacka$$ and play around with my new car. while doing so, he almost hit me. So me having a brand new car, don't even have my plates yet, swirved to have him not hit me. well while doing so, i hit a patch of ice, started swirving all over the place, jumped a snow bank, and took out a stop light. it sucks so bad. my car is drivable, but the entire left side is all banged up along with my hood, front bumper, right front fender, and who knows about my engine. i guess besides my naggin, i'm just wondering if the sensor that stops my engine from running would cause any damage to the car itself. it would start up again for a little while, so i'm just wondering what kind of damage could've been done to the engine components that i could explain to the insurance/auto body shop. thanks for any help and your sympothy.

Re: Accident...

well i would go after them, but they took off. so unfortunately, all i got a glimpse of is what his/her car was. no plates or anything.

on a different note, i just talked to the insurance company. i might have an option now of totaling the car out and getting a new one instead. i looked under the car, and now it's leaking some major fluids. here's what i'm thinking.

1. i don't want them to just "fix" my car. the thing is still brand spankin new and i don't want it to be in the back of my mind.

2. has anyone totalled a car before? just wondering what the experience was like and if you could do anything different, what would it be?

3. if i were to total the car, what would you get? as my sig states, i have a contour svt which i love and still miss, plus it handles a lot better than the maxima. what else could i possibily get that has the power and luxury of a max, yet much better handling without having to mod the car itself.

thanks for all of your help guys and gals. it really means a lot to me. especially when i'm sitting at home and can barely even move.

Im the same way... But If I were you though, I would atleast stop by a hospital or a clinic to be checked out, cause if you really are hurt bad and you dont get some treatment, it will make it worse and you'll end up spending more time at a hospital (which means you'll be seeing doctors more)...

just my 2 cents

I would total the car and just get another Maxima or a G35 (if you can afford the extra $3-4k )
