Turbo Maxima VIDEO complete with more shots

For those of you that never got a chance to see my car in full plus the fact that I didnt put many pics up there initially because of the snow we had and my car was dirty from the snow, here is a Video to ease your pain.

BigDogJonx's TurboMax

You can click right on the link or right click and Save As if you like. The video is 10mb, sorry for those of you on dialup.

Right now im pushing 5.5-6psi of boost, im going to push it to 10 soon. Maybe once I get the Boost controller I will do that. Another HLH0501.com turbokit creation.

And you are 100% right. It needs to be reopened and resealed.

nice video, i just have two questions, one could be because i overestimate my car....

1) how come u have the hose from the crank shaft connected to a breather? lol, i thought the job of the breather was to remove the hose to make inside engine look better....well i never seen a breather connected to a hose, just connected straight to the crank shaft.

2) as i saw your car accelerating, i seen your rpm's moving real fast at times but your MPH was moving at a pace that i normally see mines moving...i'm not sure if i'm just hallucinating or u werent trying but even from 60-100 i pick up speed just as fast as the video shows u doing it....evem at 5 psi i would think there would be a big difference....

not trying to be an a-hole, just wanted to know the scenario going on, nonetheless a nice video, i should have bought a camcorder instead of a digital camera, i like how u mix stills with video

1. That breather has only a 1/4" size inlet, and the pipe on the crankcase is like 1/2". So I couldnt get it to fit direct, for now I got the hose to make it easier.

2. Remember im Auto, so I dont pickup as fast as others do with their 5spds in 3rd gear. Im an auto 3rd gear is 1:1 where the 5spd 4th gear is 1:1. Most people who show their video are doing it in 3rd on the 5spd. Makes it seem much faster than an auto.

No offense taken.

Plan on Dynoing Saturday or Sunday, just need to wireup the SAFC and set the boost to about 8 or 10psi.

Hey did you get my post on your Dyno thread in the dyno forum? Just wanted to know your answer on that question.

The A/F meter only turns on when I turn on the parking lights. It bounces around too much and didnt want to see that mother during the day, plus im changing that out for an EGT gauge.

do you have a pipe hanging lower than the car or is that just an optical illusion?

Car looks good!

I'm still a little weary of wrapped pipe and clearance...

Maybe it's the pic but it seems pretty low...

That down-pipe looks extremely low for some reason (as Mr. said).

I believe it was due to routing around the auto tranny pan? Or was it the oil pan?

Plus, loosing the fog light is not a good thing for me. I am hoping that is due to restricted area because of the auto tranny. If not...

Plus 80 - 100 in 5 seconds? I cant remember the last time I did that run but 5 seconds seems high...

Nice!

BUT I want to hear that bish ROOOOAR!!! Not music!

That piping does look quite a bit lower than Joaquinks', but his is CRUSHED flat 10-20% to clear the tranny and even touches it towards the backside. I think oval tubing would give more clearance, but I'm not sure how to mate it up to a round cat.

Man that intercooler to throttle body tube is friggen loooooong. I guess they didn't feel that extra loop around the turbo was much of a pressure drop, since they could have extended the MAF wires a couple inches easily and brought the tubing right around the valve cover.

BTW, love the crankCASE breather snorkel.

With the PFI kit, you will not lose the fog lights BUT you will have to drill two holes through the frame of the car.

Kev,

Do you have a picture of your compressor discharge piping from the turbo(to intercooler)? Especially, the elbow.

Also, how close is your wastegate to the trans?

Ouch...hmmmmm wonder which one is the lesser of two evils.

Another question for ya Kev, do you have all those "rubber" couplers. Seems that I counted a bunch on the Hal installation. I guess its more noticable on BDJ installation because its a contrasting color.

I can't show you that. It's a gradual 90 degree mandrel bend.
