What are your favorite roads?
We've all had the pleasure of driving some phenomenal roads that, when traversed, would capture memories and invoke desires to travel them again with your Maxima. Here are my top three:
3: Highway 46 from Columbus, Indiana to Indiana University. 48 miles of twisty, hilly, smooth roads which I must have driven over 500 times.
2: Highway 70 just west of Denver through The Rockies. Absolutely beautiful and fun!
1: Highway 1 from San Fran to San Diego. Curves, cliffs, ocean, exotic cars, hot women and gorgeous weather.

Hwy 94 from Interstate 40 to Washington, MO - very twisty, very hilly, little traffic, and NO cops, I drive it all the time, its about a half hour rollercoaster ride out to my girlfriends whenever we're home from college.
Hwy A North of Kirksville, MO - About a 45 minute stretch of fun, twisty roads where I was playing with my friend's impreza RS and he almost spun out right in front of me.
Any long stretch of open road with sun and warm air where I can smoke a good cigar, drink some good soda, and listen to great tunes playing with my windows down...

"The Dragon" RT 129 in Blount County, TN that ends up in NC somewhere.
It's a 11 miles long in TN with over 150 turns. But then it's a crap load of more miles in NC. It's like a total of 500 turns or something, it's ridiculous.
Sadly about every year about 2 motorcyclists die on that road.

Ditto on Str8ridin's #2 and 3 also Steve on 2222. Some other great ones are close to Steve, Inks Lake State Park Road, about 50 miles west of Austin in the Highland Lakes. Also drive up to ?canyon of the eagles??? in this area, pretty awesome.
Anything in Colorado, this winter we took Co 131 from Eagle up to Steamboat, narrow, climbing, and lots of critters.
East SF Bay Area, Fish Ranch Road, above the Caldecott Tunnel.

Put VA on that list too.
695 in MD is virtually trouble free when I come home - but then again I don't get off work until 1:30 in the morning
Best autocross type road - Hwy 85 (Old route 66) between AZ and CA, through Needles north to Barstow. hilly, curvy, smooth, and gorgous. No coppers or other cars.
Best top-speed road - I-90 Bridge across Lake Washintong in Seattle - No cope, straight with no shoulder or turnoffs for 2 miles with a 1/2 mile tunnel with a slight curve on each end. Awesome top speed spt. Hit 150+ there once. Best run at 3AM because then there's no traffic.
Most beautiful - Hwy 99 through Downtown Seattle. 100' Raised highway with Skyscrapers on one side and the ocean on the other.

the road between here and my mom's house.
too many small state highways to list, but one of them runs about 5 miles from Warpspeed's shop...
Highway F in Arkansas I believe.. starts out as 412, then goes to 23, then F, then 86..
anyway, here's a small sample:
http://www.ee.utulsa.edu/~mblehm/pics/12_31_01/
4 hours of this drive.... usually takes a 1/2 set of brake pads and a full tank of gas to drive the 200 miles.

#1) Coast Highway 1 from Oregon Coast to San Diego with the top open and windows down. Take at least 3 days so you can stop and smell the roses along the way.
In LA: Mulholland Drive, So Cal, on a quiet, no traffic afternoon.
Road to Hana, Maui.
East Side Road, Callahan to Ft Jones. Dodging cows just adds to the fun.
But give me a good, smooth gravel or dirt road, and a rear drive car, and I'll have more fun than Rumsfeld dropping a MOAB on Sadaam.
Some tight roads
It may sound stupid, but if any of y'all ever go to Europe - stop by Croatia. Southern - Balcan country. Croatia, along the coast of the Adriatic Sea, has some beautiful raods. On one side you see the sea and the other side are the mountains - and the roads are twisty with no pot holes and other crap!! Many European car enthusiasts go to the Adriatic Sea just to enjoy the ride!!
Also, you see some tight cars. Some of the BMW commercials are filmed on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. (Adriatic Sea is inbetween Italy and Croatia)

I always liked 101 in S.F. (Heading out over the bridge)
PCH between Malibu and San Diego.
81 South between my house in MD and Knoxville, TN.
My favorite windy road was the road heading to Muir Woods. (Outside S.F.)

I-90. From Sioux Falls, Iowa to Seattle, Washington.
Part of the Washington-Alabama Cannonball Run. Avg. speed: 110 mph and not a Trooper in sight!
Except when you go through Spokane, from there to Seattle, you'll have to deal with the Stupid Troopers.
