crack on HID return wire

crack on HID return wire

hi guys, i recently purchased a used HID kit and noticed a crack on the return wire on the HID bulb. is that okay? will it affect performance or safety?

It will be fine. Just wrap it up with electrical tape.....

you mean wrap the metal bar with electrical tape? it won't burn or anything right? haha...

These things operate at very high voltages... If you bought the kit new, ask for a replacement. If it's used, wrap electrical tape over it or maybe even a liberal spattering of epoxy then electrical tape.

You will definately need to wrap that up. It could either ground out and boom, no more HIDs... or eventually corossion will take place and you will need to replace that wire. Just wrap it up real good.
