Well, my long quest for LIGHTWEIGHT Racing Rims that are 15 inch in diameter to use on regular 15 slicks is finally over. I finally found a rim that BARELY does the job. I was told in the Z32 forums to try the Kosei K1 15x7 rims. They are light, and I mean light, they weight in at 13 pounds a piece. And for $109.00 at www.tirerack.com , I couldn't go wrong. I got them in a few minutes ago and put one of them on. It doesn't initially clear the 300ZX caliper, but with a 1/4" spacer (which is actually a little overboard), it fits PERFECT. So, now I can use regular 15 inch slicks on these suckers. YEAH, drag strip, here I come......

nice find. can't wait to get some more mods and then some slicks mounted on an extra pair of sawblades I have. then maybe I'll see if I can't find some lightweight wheels.
Are you going to swap wheel studs everytime you go to the track? Or do you have longer lugs to compensate for the extra 1/4" for everyday driving?
You guys know that the stock 15x6.5 96 I30t wheels are 14lbs. They are forged wheels made by BBS. Don't know if they clear 300zx calipers but your using spacers anyhow. I am sure you could get them for less than $109 a wheel.
The major concern with most 15 inch rims is that the inner part of the rim will not clear the calipers in general. So, with the 300ZX calipers, it is not just getting any rim and putting a spacer on it, it is getting rims that have a large enough inside diameter to accept the 300ZX calipers. These Kosei rims are gonna be used at the track only, so I do not necessarily need longer studs for every day use. They will have full slicks mounted on them, so I can't even drive on the road with them, so the concern about the studs and the spacer does not bother me. Anyways, just wanted to let those who need lightweight 15x7 inch rims to use on their 300ZX calipers that these fit....

He might not need longer studs with only a 1/4" spacer. I've got 5mm spacers on the fronts, that isn't much shorter than 1/4" and I've been fine so far.....Originally posted by Y2KevSE

what is the offset on the rims? I have the same wheels in 17x7.5 45 offset which I'm gonna install when I get tires soon. I also have the 12.2, 4 piston fastbrakes kit, sitting in my garage. Hopefully I wont need spacers, but if I do hopefully 5 mm ones will be good enough.
Is the Z caliper a LOT larger than the stock Maxima caliper? the Wilwood superlite calipers are huge

Hmmm... mind getting some measurements for me? I need to know the absolute minimum diameter of the inside of the rim..
my old 16s were around 13.75" and only had about 1/8" caliper clearance on the wheels.

The main part of the inside part of the rim is 14.5 inches in diameter. Right where the inside portion of the spokes touch the inside of the rim, there is a lip, and it measures about 13.25 inches across. Hope this helps...
Is it possible to post a pic of the brakes with the wheels on?
How much clearance do you have from the outer edge of the caliper to the inner face of the wheel?

Here's some shots w/ the 16" ZX wheels...to show how big the caliper is.....dont have pic of old calipers...
And yes I have swapped the rotors around the right way.....it was like 2 am when i did the conversion.....

Could you list some Z32 forums? Besides this, I'd like to look up a few other issues.
Also, what offset are these? Do these wheels come in other offsets?
thanks
Phil
