At the last autocross I went to, the was as IS300 that was an L-tuned version from lexus. It came from the dealer with modified intake, header, exhaust, 18 inch gun-metal wheels, custom leather and interior (pedals, shift ****), custom tail lights, and a bodykit. it looked awesome, no badges on it except for L-tuned on the back. It was pretty fast (not as fast as me), but the problem is that it was used with like 10k miles on it when he bought it, and he still payed 39k for it.

IS 300!
IS 300 all the way!
My friend has one and I can never keep up in the twisties, even with my RSB and FSTB...and he's stock.
Straight line though the max is better.
But it's a Lexus...there's almost no competition in my mind.

IS300s are alright, nothin special. IF i was spending that kinda money, i would hop into an Audi A4 1.8T or 3.0V6 or a lsightly used S4. The styling of those cars are so understated, its great. The IS300 just looks...ricey...
Also, the A4/S4s have good modding potential...

Thanks to everyone for the comments. Hehe! I have decided on the IS300 ... actually I already paid a deposit on one. I think most of you know that it will NOT stay stock for too long 
. Now unless the deal turns sour I will pick it up when I get back from my business trip.
Now I am wrestling with whether to continue to build my Max or save for the IS mods! I would like to create a real beast!
I am now in SF (well nearby). I have seen Kev's BEAST!

Thanks! Well I have only paid the deposit. What if he were to just sell the car while I am away? All this travelling sucks! I can't build my car and I can't pick up my new car!

I have had a lot of requests for 2K2 and 2K3 for turbo kits. This is not going to happen any time soon unless someone would like to spend some serious money!
These are fuel line returnless systems on 2K2+ Maximas. It MIGHT be possible to put a return line on these but it is not easy by any means ... OR need a good piggyback system for the fuel management like the IS 300. Hmmm ... I think I have an idea! Maybe it is not so bad after all! If someone would like to try it, let me know!

i saw you post up on is300.net!! i just joined also, i'd definitely grab the is300 over the maxima. RWD will be a HUGE helper when it comes to keeping that power to the ground. I'm still waiting for my blue e-shift with navi and leather

Stock vs stock the maxima is faster
The is300 is more expensive
But the is300 does look better
If someone was giving um for free and i could only choose one id choose the lex and just pimp it up.

My first impression of the Lexus IS 300 is that it is a very nice looking car with the potential to make more power than a Maxima ever could. I view it as being a better built Toyota, there are a couple of small things that annoy/surprise me. I really think the pre-2K maximas offer a lot in terms of value for money. The later 2K, I never could get used to the tails unless they were black on black. The build quality on a 2002 IS vs a 2K2 Maxima - I would have to say the IS wins hands down. Value for money wise, the Maxima has been there for a long long time! Long live the Maxima. I certainly do not regret getting it that's for sure! I am sure I will have fun with it.

I may have to sell it to start working on the IS although I don't want to since I have so much in it and more to come.
