Pricing for the 2004's have not came out yet so I do not know what I will be paying. All I know is that I will be paying the lowest price the dealer can sell the car for (dealer invoice) and I dont have to wheel and deal for a cheaper price

I think some of guys don't understand that buying an STi for the next two years is nearly impossible. Even in Kansas City, where the performance car scene is just starting to bloom, getting an STi will be impossible. My Subaru dealer has been in contact with me ever since I bought a used Legacy GT wagon for my wife. The dealer asked if there were any Subarus I might consider I told him the WRX. I went on to say driving an STi would be nice and he chuckled and said, are you willing to wait till 2006? He said they've got 30 people on the list with 15 of which put down deposits at his showroom dealer the other Subaru dealer north of me (same owner) has 35 on the list (deposits unknown). And this was 6 months ago. At the time, they believed each dealer will get 3 each for the 2004 model year. I believe Subaru is sending the US 1500 Sti's for 2004.

Was he BSing's me? Doubtful, because he told me the STi would be sporting a 2.5 turbo (this was 6 months ago). I figured he got the displacement wrong, but two months ago Subaru made it public that the 2.5 turbo will be standard in the US so this tells me my dealer was in no way BSing me about the list and wait. I'd imagine other parts of the country have any longer waiting lists.

Not only are will the STi be in short supply, but it is anticipated that you will be paying several thousand over MSRP. Same for EVO VIII I would imagine. Deposits reserve your spot in the queue but don't necessarily mean you will get them for MSRP unless that is the dealer's policy. I remember when the PT Cruiser first came out, people were paying $2-3k more than sticker! Now they are a dime a dozen...LOL! I figure the insurance premium would not be too friendly to my pocket book for an STi also.
