Thats right, I am back to stock (soon bye bye maxima hello 2004 WRX)

All of my mods are sold besides my seats and I already have a bidder on them. Other then that It was fun while it lasted having a maxima but I am moving onto bigger and better things, hehe.

I am buying a 2004 WRX when it comes out. The car drives like a dream and has alot of moding potential. The AWD is an awesome feature and with 227HP its not bad at all for a 4 cylinder. They changed the front and rear end of the 2004 thats why I like it rather then that ugly 2002-03 bug eyed front end.

As soon as the car comes in I will be selling my car and picking up this WRX. Another good thing is I get the car at dealer invoice since I am a professional ski instructor and Subaru sponcers them. I also have a hookup at the dealer which mods cars also by the way. They mod cars and warrenty them as they are mod'd which is nice.

Anyways this car should be coming out very soon but its been fun having a 96 maxima for about 4 years and I have had alot of fun with it in those 4 years.

p.s. I will post pics of my new car once I get it

That's awesome that you get it at invoice. The AWD and modibility will be fun, no doubt about that. What color?

300hp/300lb boosted stock with factory warranty is a waste of $$?

think about it this way.... I get my reg WRX for 23k and put 1/3 of the 10 grand it is more to get the STI and I will be smoking STI's. If I put 1/2 the $$ into the reg WRX I will be mid to low 12's. thats just my POV about the reg WRX vs. the STI

Subaru ranks marginally better than nissan in terms of problems. WRX owners sometimes grumble about the manual transmission and the windshield fragility.

I am looking at the upcoming WRX too but will be keeping the max. For the price, you cannot fault the WRX. I want the sport wagon myself for practicality...

Doesn't the STI have the full AWD system compared to the handicapped AWD? Or am I thinking DSM?

Well there's also the issue with warantee...

But yeah...30K+ is a lot of money.

The premium of the STi over the WRX isn't just accounting for the engine. You're forgetting things like the seats, 17inch BBS wheels, body kit, HID's, close ratio 6-speed tranny, DCCD, Brembo brakes, the STi's infamous trick suspension with the beefy, inverted struts. And a larger, torquier engine than the WRX. Add all those up if you installed them on your own, you'd be well over that $10k difference.
And that warranty thing is nice.

There is much more to an STi than just an engine upgrade..

But then again if all you care about is power, the STi isn't your ideal car.

Also the STI has a 2.5 liter and mod for mod will whip a base WRX.

great choice on the WRX! - i have to agree with you that the new fascia of the imprezza looks a million times better than the previous generation. There is a dealership out in huntington,NY that is 100% mod friendly, the salespeople themselves all drive modified subarus.

The seats and fabric materials are amazing in the 2004 WRX. The seats look more like full blown racing seats. The interior looks a lot more upscale now. The new Subaru (non-BBS) optional 17s are pretty good looking too. I'll be considering a 2004 WRX.

Good Choice...I went and drove a 03 a while back and it was quite nice. When the 04's hit the dealership, I told the salesman to give me a call.

The only thing that bothers me about the WRX is that its pretty weak from a roll, even when modded.

Be very careful about what you do. Subaru will void your warranty if they see anything they don't like.

good choice, no better bang for the buck. i tend to agree with you on the STi subject. although it offers so much more, i would rather take the 10k and do what i wish with it. and if i had the money for an STi i think i would rather have a 330xi in my driveway. i love the 2k4 wrx, but i cant afford it, so i am hoping with the release of that and the STi the 2k2 wrx prices will drop drastically and i can pick one up for like 14k in a little more than a year.

A Subaru WRX bigger than a Maxima--No way. Better than a Maxima--hardly. It performs better, but that does not make it a better car. You give up a lot of space, luxury, and ride quality for a half second in acceleration.

So if you got sponsorship, why are you paying $23,000 for the standard WRX. That's Manufacturers suggested retail and i know dealers pay for it way less than that. Atleast $2,000-$3,000 less. And the STi in only around $31,000 that's only $8,000 more.....

i loved my maxima but i am ready and willing to give up luxury for speed and handeling. better car reliability wise maybe, maybe not but better moding potential and handeling hellz yea...
