Need to replace my transmission rotor and pad...
Need to replace my transmission rotor and pad...
I knew that would make someone look. I am starting to hear a loud grinding noise from inside my car. It kind of sounds like worn out pads grinding the rotor, but it is the transmission. It is when accelerating and decellerating below 4k rpm, it is a grinding (not good) sound. Anyone had experience with this? I notice it is slightly there at an idle, then I push in the clutch and it goes away within 2 seconds, then I let out of the clutch and it comes back. VERY loud in the cockpit while driving though. If any of you have had this happen, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

It is probably the throwout bearing. My Ford Ranger did the same thing and it was the throwout bearing causing the problem. This happened right after I had the clutch and throwout bearing replaced. Just needed adjustment, still had to drop the tranny though.
was it making the same noise before and after? if so, then it's bearings in the tranny. just pull it and have it rebuilt. the sooner you stop asking the same question in 25 forums, the sooner you can start the repair, and the sooner you can get the car back on the road.

That did make me look.
What else could it be?
