raybestos QS: warranty help

Hi guys

I just called pepboys to see if they have the QS in stock. I asked them about the warranty, and he said they it was lifetime. Does this mean when they wear out, I get free replacements?

I remember reading somewhere that their warranty had changed or something, and can only be replaced if it was a manufacture defect or somethin? I have no clue, someone enlighten me. Thanks!

When I bought mine at Kragen, they told me that it has a lifetime warranty against everything excluding normal wear. Meaning, nope, no free replacement

I've heard the QS last quite a long time, upwards of 100k miles, so personally I'm not too afraid of wearing them out. Worst case, it's just another $50 later sometime. Quite a bit cheaper than my other maintanence of new tires every 30k miles.

ah! u reminded me... i gotta change tires soon. The tire store won't rotate/balance them anymore because they are at the tread mark

well yea, if they are at the tread bars then there is no point in rotating your tires...

anyways, i think lifetime waranty means its covered for the lifetime of the pads aganist any type of defect.

Raybestos pads suck. I say that, because they do. They wear out too fast, (even the "good" ones). They may also chatter and grab at low speeds.
You can collect on lifetime warranty, "IF" you have them installed by a certified mechanic, or prove you had rotors turned and also replaced any other defective brake parts. Read the fine print on warranty before buying them.

I went through the Ray-bust-us warranty deal years ago on my SHO. I almost beat up the manager at Trak Auto. He was a jerk. I got my money back, but only after I went back to the certified mechanic that I had to have figure out why my front end was making crunching noises ( it was the crappy brake pads ). They also turned my rotors too slick. I also had to pay $120 to have my brakes done by someone else.

I also put Raybestos pads on my S-10 truck, once. I only got 20K out of them. I used a different brand, and they are still good, 60K years later.

how does someone turn your rotors too slick? sounds like a bad brake job to me. cant really blame the pads for that. anyways, i have nothing but good things to say about the Raybestos QS series pads. havent had 1 complaint from any of my customers either. they are good pads and very quiet. I dont like their other line of pads like the PGs or whatever their called.

I bought the QS for the fronts. The guy recommended me to buy some brake pad grease... well it's not grease but some sort of sealant thingy... he says u put it behind the brakepads to reduce squeeling. Is it necessary? I know the pads came w/ self adhesive shims... do i put that stuff between the shims and brake pads?

Raybestos sucks, don't beleive the lifetime warranty. If you have problems, forget about getting Raybestos to help or replace them.
