JWT ECU + MEVI = Jaw on floor
JWT ECU delivered about 40 minutes ago, along with that damn stock 98 auto ECU.
HO-LY-CRAP. This thing is sick. First test was from about 4000rpm in 2nd gear, ran it out to 6800 because I forgot that I can go MUCH farther now... bang it into 3rd and spin the tires HARD. My jaw falls in my lap. I pick up the cell, call Brian and Jason and leave hysterical babbling voicemails about how badass this thing is, I hang up and start flogging it again. This time I ran it out to 7000, trying to see where the rev limiter is now. 7000rpm and it's still going strong. Slow down some, into 2nd at 5000rpm and trying to find the rev limiter this time. Rev limit hits at an indicated 7300rpm and I hit 3rd gear and roast the winter tires into 3rd almost as hard as I do 2nd gear with the stock ECU.
Then I take it out to the freeway by the luck of the irish I've got about a 1/4 mile hole between semis with no one near by. Here we go. In 2nd from 50mph to about 75, into 3rd spinning them on the highway, running out third now, third gear goes up to 110mph!!! This is on stock sized tires as well, not my shorter-than-stock 17" tires. Ran it up to 110 and back down to 50 a few times and then on my 3rd run I notice that I'm not going much of anywhere even though the tach's pulling thru 7000rpm slowly. Damn relay, my MEVI isn't open on this one, at 7000rpm the difference is plain as day. So I chill out for a few minutes and just cruise. Jason calls me back and I get off the highway and drive home.
Now I just have to get my MEVI working without the relay so I don't have to worry about my MEVI only working 3/4 of the time.
So the verdict is, JWT ECU and MEVI is frickin' sweet! I'm in love with my car again.
EDITED for spelling and grammar because I was high on adrenaline at the time.

(Not trying to be mean, Craig, it's just that engineers find this sort of thing funny.)

Sounds good. Mine should be arriving this afternoon sometime. Of course I'll be able to spin them in 3rd...............only because it's raining and will continue to do so thru tommorrow night.
Neal-
Can you tell a difference at part throttle 2000-4000rpms?

whoa...and i thought my G-force ECU was good. sheesh. i still have to short shift my maxima since i don't have the variable intake and my rev limiter is still at around 6,700. time to hit the track neal!

how much are you guys with the MEVIs paying on average for EVERYTHING to do with the MEVI? Also, is it difficult to install? Im definately leaning to this as my next mod, also, where can you pick one up (website?), ive heard theres about a month or more wait for one....
thanks
eric
EDIT: Also, what are the average gains to the wheels?!

Congrats!
Because the tach is very inaccurate at WOT, especially in the low gears, maybe you can verify the 7200 rpm limiter by setting your shiftlight (if you have one) to something greater than 7000rpm. Otherwise a dyno could verify that you can truly go above 7k.
Despite not appreciating the BS Ben had been feeding me, I decided to keep the JWT ECU and think it is great. You really get a nice little extra ooomph starting at midrange. I think it really is a must for 95-96's with MEVI.

personally i think the jwt ecu is the best bang for your buck. it was the only mod that made my jaw drop.
nealoc, what oil are you running? time to put some amsoil 2000 20w-50 b/c you will want to pound on your car every time you're behind the wheel. glad things finally worked out for you. peace.

I use Castrol GTX 10w30. JWT ECU is a great mod even shifting at the old redline, the torque gain is great, I can only imagine what it would be like with USIM instead of MEVI. For reference I lost about 17ft-lb with my MEVI vs USIM.

Re: JWT ECU + MEVI = Jaw on floor
Wow - I'm converting to 5spd soon.
With the 5spd and MEVI, exhaust, SC, and Y-pipe - My times should drop substantially if you were puling a 13.9 with the VI and Y-Pipe.
Looks like the JWT is on my mod list this summer also now.

I have an old dyno of a max with I/Y/E/ECU. The torque the car makes is sick. We are talking like VQ35DE type torque. 3-4 years ago Biomax dynoed the JWT ECU vs stock 95/97 ECU and gained an average of 5whp/7wtq.

There are no Gains until after 5500 RPM and a slight midrange power loss. That means you are only seeing gains for about 1000 RPM with the stock ECU. However with the stock Manifold you shift before redline, with the MEVI you can shift at redline and enter the next gear at a higher RPM (and higher HP)
Personally I don't think this Mod is worth it unless you can get an aftermarket ECU w/ raised rev limiter (~$500). Even then it is of limited use on the street since you can't really begin to use its power until 60+ MPH (top of 2nd gear). But for 1/4 mile guys and those who love highway power it could be the ultimate N/A mod.
Nealoc Any plans to dyno?
EDIT - I meant to put in this dyno comaparison of stock IM vs MEVI put together by SteVTEC
