Importing maxima from Canada to US

Can anyone tell me if I can import a Gen 4 Maxima from Canada into the US. US Customs says it has to have two stickers on it which say the following:
1) Meets US DOT safety standards (on door jam?)
2) Meets US EPA enviromental standards (under the hood?)

Maybee one of the members from Canada can look on their car to see what the stickers say. Thanks in advance for any help.

Jeff

Why are you not supposed to do it? I doubt it's illegal or customs would have told me. I imported a sled from Canada last fall and had to pay no duty because of NAFTA. Now the gen 4 Maxima was manufactured in Japan correct, so NAFTA wouldn't apply?

oh i am sorry.. you said 4th Gen..

in this particular issue.. it was buying a brand new one from a Canadian dealership and bringing it to the US.. not sure if that was the main issue with it..

No problemo. I think the only problem you would have would be the warranty work. Read the fine print and most say something about taking it out of the country.

A buddy of mine's cousin is a broker who ships cars regularly to the US. I asked him about this and:

For him to sell cars in the US he has to change the speedo and odometer to Imperial measurment from Metric(with no odometer roll back either!). Other than that, add a vechicle inspection and you should be good to go.

Now, you may not even have to change the speedo as it's a private import, it works that way for us to bring cars from the US to Canada. Importing for profit/resale... a whole different story.
