Transmission Woes.

Hey guys, i just blew my 2nd auto, and im now in search of 5spd parts. A lot of the junkyards in this area don't carry any 2k maxima 5spd parts, so i was thinking to find parts elsewhere and have them ship it. Think u guys could help me out with some numbers or websites to junkyards that would carry these parts so i could just get em all shipped here?
Thanks,

Terry

parts that are recommended to get new rather then used...

-clutch assembly (oem or aftermarket)
-flywheel (oem or aftermarket)
-slave clutch cylinder (auto parts store)
-master clutch cylinder (auto parts store)
-hydraulic lines (dealer or make ur own w/ brake lines)

Really?

All of those things listed above except the clutch assembly can be bought used, I thought.

I haven't heard anything about any of those others parts needing to be bought new.

Flywheel - People seem to just be getting them resurfaced before install.
master/slave cylinder - many people seem to be getting these used with no major issues.
hydraulic lines - Why would you need to buy new ones? They seem to be a part that doesn't wear down....unless you have rust problems or something.

Not flaming - just wondering where you're coming from.

One other thing I know you should buy new is the return spring for the shifter....

my own personal preference i guess...guess u can resurface it...but i'd much rather get oem or aftermarket...

master/slave cylinder - many people seem to be getting these used with no major issues.

well...depending on how old they are...u mite have to replace it...y take any chances...they are known to get defective...u SUPPOSE to change it after xx,xxx miles...they aren't that expensive so buy it new...just another piece of mind i guess...

well original poster said there is no 5spd wrecked 5th near him...the hydraulic lines are for the most part disregarded by the junkyard when they take the motor and tranny apart...

Not flaming - just wondering where you're coming from.

not necessary...but it won't hurt...cost like 1 dolla from dealer i think...

Ok - Just checking, because I got everything used - except for some misc bolts and that spring.

I'll be pressure testing the hydraulic system before installation, so it should be fine.

Aftermarket flywheels are $$$ I thought - I'll just have mine resurfaced for now - maybe upgrade next year when I put a Quaife Diff in anyway.

iansw, where did u go to find all your parts?

clutch i definitely plan on getting a new aftermarket, and most of the small things i don't have a problem just picking up at a dealer, but i wanted to try and keep parts under 2g if possible.

For sale section on this forum.

Bought a used tranny and all parts for conversion (including axles) for $600.

Actually - here's an ethical question for everyone. (Sorry if I am whoring up your thread):

I bought the tranny with the agreement that all parts were included, and I would pay 1/2 now, 1/2 after everything was shipped and tested to work correctly.

So I sent the 1st 1/2 of the money, and received the pedals, clutch lines, master cylinder, and transmission.

2 weeks now I have been waiting for the axles, shift rods, and flywheel. I have sent 6 E-Mails attempting to contact the guy with no luck. his last E-Mail implied, but didn't actually say he shipped them 2 weeks ago.

I'm going to call him tomorrow if he doesn't respond by then.

If he doesn't let me know soon where they are and what's going on, do I go buy the parts elsewhere then subtract the costs from what I owe him?
