Strut Bar Install

I don't know if you have talked about this before...but

Did any onf you install your strut bars yourself? I tried and tried and tried, and those bolts would not budge. So I went to Big 10 Tires, and got a tire guy to use that air gun for $5

If they were so tight you needed an air gun, they were way too tight.

IIRC, they are only supposed to be tightened to about 47 ft. lbs.

Even less than that ....

Shoulda just bought a socket wrench with no ratchet (doesn't click and spin both ways), and then coulda just pulled as hard as you wanted without having to worry about breaking the wrench

if they are too tight...you can snap the bolt...that's a no-no!!! Torque it to around 30lbs and you will be fine...

the manual I have indicates 35-50 ft-lbs of torque on those bolts; it's not that much.

after you've got your FSTB installed and torqued to 30lb, give it a week to "settle-in" then go back and check on all the bolts and re-torque them to 30lb.

30 bucks for a good one. it is definately a helpful tool, and if you plan to work on your car (do regular maintenance on it yourself), it is a handy tool.
