1" M.C. Hmmm how did you get one w/ a bigger rod dia? From a bigger Honda or some kind of pre-fab kit? And does the Honda use vac assistance? If yes, how do you deal w/ that?

Several cars have larger dia MC. I actually have I thinkt he second largest at 15/16" being it's an Si version. The older accords and the older preludes use 1". I will actually be using a prelude one as all the hoses line up. This is one area which I think a lot of car manufacturer can learn from Honda and Audi/VW... interchangeble parts - saves money.

Anyways... yes brakes are vacum assisted.

Notice on the upper corner of the booster there's a check valve? That hose that's lose is connected to the intake manifold. I havn't really looked at the exact operation on the Service Man. but if I had to guess... when the engine is one, it's "sucking"(best term I could think of)... hmm maybe it's pushing air in there... you know that's itnerseting... never pulled the booster apart.

thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I thought you did. Anyway Nissan is notorious for parts interchangability. One my 510 it had 280zx struts/brakes, an engine from Japan, a tranny from a 200sz 5-sp and a rear end from a lsd z car.

I think the reason people don't interchange lotsa stuff from Nissans is becuase people here havn't done the research necessary for it.

As for as the check valve, you have to consider how the booster works. It uses engine vacuum to help the brake pressure. Although I've never seen this on any of my cars, I'm gonna guess the check valve it designed to shut if the booster sees positive pressure. That would be a bad thing. So if you plan on pressurizing the intake , this check valve could be a very nice thing.

Or the check valve could be designed to always have xxx amount of pressure inside to help the brakes. Donno.

Yep, yep....

What little research I've done in Nissan parts shows that 3rd and 4th gens basically share the same brake system, except that the 4th gen rear calipers are different.....

And also Altimas have the same brake setup as Maximas.....which is outrageous IMHO.....

Of course, nearly every Acura has the exact same front pad/rotor and oil filter!

Well I donno man, nissan seems to have invented new parts for each new year... I mean take the 4th gen ECU for example... that's just crazy.

As for parts... the same oil filter has basically been used on the teg/civic line for atleast 10 years that I know of.

Shing I don't think Dougy knows the $20. Improper use of the $20 is $50 ticket.
