Encounter with a SHO and the close call

This morning I was heading to work and looked in my rear view to see a 95 SHO in my rear view. I'm in the left lane driving the speed limit and they guy pulls to the right lane to pass and blows by me. So we get to the light and the right lane is free (3 lanes now), so I hop on over to it. Mr. SHO jumps in behind me so I figured I'd show him what I got under the hood. The light turns green and I take off. Dude is right on my bumper so I lay on it and he's trying to overtake me by jumpin over to the left lane but I'm too quick for him. I thought that was nice to show Mr.SHO what sleeper GXE's have but here is the clincher, as were driving along Mr. SHO is right behind me still and then I hear sirens. I look back and its an unmarked Ford Bronco and he jumps on the tail of Mr. SHO and pulls him over. I had to laugh because that was a close call . I thought the cop was going to pull me over too but he didn't pay me any mind. I guess when the cops can catch at least one person out of a group for speeding, they're happy.
It still was good to SHO up a SHO.

He probably wanted to just tell the SHO driver not to bother.

Good kill/escape

You are one lucky dude!!!

SHO owner saying to the officer: When did the Maxima become so fast?

Officer: I never knew the Nissan Maxima was a fast car that's why I pulled you over Mr. all SHO and no GO!!

i looked at SHOs before getting my 93 SE. they may be quicker in a straight line with their 220 HP, but in the corners, everything inside squeaks and rattles. that's crappy ford quality for you. most any modded max could beat one, but a stock boy like me? i'd be wasted...

ehh......hope that was sarcasm. The 5.0 SHO's are all nasty. The only good ones were the SHO's with ddintake yamaha engines.

um... all sho's until 96 had a 3.0 DOHC yamaha engine. the only thing about that car that was good was the mustang manual 5-spd and the engine. 1996 and up had a 3.9L V8 and auto ... those were all slower than the V6. the TaurusSHO might have been nice if it weren't for the rest of the car falling apart. it just wasn't meant for that kind of power.

Speed is fun but having something reliable can be even better.

Yeah, this was the boxy shaped SHO. Seem that people I've seen driving them lately think they are faster than everything on the road.

WHAT?!

89-95 3.0L V6 with 5 speed...fastest known is 12.9 @ 109. I have also heard of 11's

93-95 3.2L V6 with Automatic
96-99 3.4L V8 with Automatic..well into the 13's with NOS

The Mustang T5 transmission would never fit in a FWD car. We use a mazda deriv. transaxle.

Perhaps these cars are falling apart due to abuse and high mileage; they are actually pretty reliable; just high maintainence.

You cannot say that the Gen3 is slower than Gen1/2 SHO's with V6's. Some are and some aren't..I know of some Gen3's that will give some modded Maxima's a run for their money, let alone a modded earlier Gen SHO.

I have those videos; they are cool, but there is no winner in either of them.

Actually the SHO was behind me. He thought he was going to overtake me in the left lane but I let him know what he obiously didn't know, stock Maximas will give you a run for your money.

Deezo, cool race. You run about on par with stock auto SHO's, so no doubt it would be difficult for one to overtake you from behind. Just remember, even my old (89 with 170k) in need of much (motor mounts and clutch especially) stock 5-spd posts better 1/4 numbers by a few tenths, and my lightly modded one by nearly a second, so be sure and pick on the auto's only

I'm pretty good with choosing my battles but one time I didn't choose correctly and I got roasted by an Audi A8.

Well, at least it does not feel so bad when the car you lose to cost 60k or more I have picked on some WS6's just to see what they can do, and let me tell you, it is humbling.
