I know that there is a 1st and 2nd gen board but my computer would not let me post there for some reason and being that I am a new member I have know idea what to do so I posted here. I am the knew owner of an 88 auto gxe and want to boost the power (ponies and torque)especially low end. I am having a real hard time finding anything for 2nd gen maximas. I dont know much about cars and was wondering if anyone could post some good sites or product to check out. I'm willing to spend about $500 right away. I would like to get h.p to over 200 stock is 157 i believe. Will there be a problem putting 16'' wheels on it? I am new to this but figured I had to start somewhere. I would appreciate any feedback.Thanx

200hp.......yikes!!!!!!
I can tell you right now 200hp is very hard to get without a turbocharger or Nitrous. To get that much power you would have to install 10.5 compression ratio forged pistons, the crankshaft/connecting rods/pistons from a VG30DE (90-96 300zx engine). Then get the heads ported and polished with a valve job, extrude hone the intake manifold, upgrade to a 60mm TB, get some hotter camshafts. But for now if your on a budget these are the mods I would do for less than $500. Buy a 60mm Throttle body from a 89-91 240sx $40-90, advance ignition timing to around 22-24 degrees BTDC use only 91+ octane, make a custom cold air intake $70-100, recalibrate the MAF to the intake, get a high flow cat and 2.5" catback installed $300-400. I also recommend that if you are serious about modding get a protorque torque convertor, it will give you alot more take off. Right now my car will smoke other 85-88 5spd maxima's and would put up a good race vs a 95-99 auto. I have pics of my custom CAI, FSTB so if you have any questions drop me an email.
