Frankencar updated thier website and went up in price...

They now sell big brake kits. And their intakes went up in price. For 95-99 maximas with the K&N filter, an aluminum one is now $145 + shipping and a colored one is $157 + shipping. But for 2000-2003 maximas they only went up about $5. I wonder why? Also anyone else notice that customaxima.com started selling carbon fiber hoods?

i dunnoe wat all the fuss is about...i mean...the most important thing on an intake is the filter...a pipe is a pipe...thas it...unless it's poked w/ muliple holes...cai is a different issue but same principle...paying over $150 bux for an intake is crazy in my opinion...

Yeah but that does not come with a filter. So lets say you buy the JWT pop for $120 and that midpipe for $50. Thats $170 + shipping, which is the price of a frankencar shipped...

I think that price is way to hight for just a mid pipe , Ebay sells the hole bomz racing kit and if you dont want the cold air you can ue just the midpipe and it only cost about 50$. the vm intake looks god to. And its only a pipe , they all will do the same thing.

Even the RVM is about 48.00. A midpipe costs about $15 to make, and if you don't have the tools to make it you can buy the parts and take it to an exhaust shop and they will usually build it for you.

But I do give credit to Steve at Frankencar for being an entrepreneur, a guy 19 years old that is already successful in selling aftermarkets parts is someone I respect.

I have a prototype hybrid pipe for the 4th gen and it's made better now, comes with stronger clamps and silicone tubing. The new pipe also has a bend in it so it fits in the bay better.

Wait so you are saying that the reason they went up in price is becuase they improved the midpipe?

I can't speak for Steve but that's what I'm thinking. I posted a thread with the new pipe a few months ago.

the reason why the frankencar intake costs so much is because of the amount of R&D he put into it. the other intakes dont cost as much because they are just knockoffs

not to knock on anyone...it's good that frankencar gets plenty biznezz and mucho props to him...but exactly how much r&d can there be??? it is not hard to build intake for the maxima or for any car for that matter...it's just a pipe w/ a filter...

well what do you think, he makes the intakes himself, he needs them shopped and welded ect....do you think custommaxima makes all their products.....no, cause that would be foolish, they get someone to manufacture everything.....and by the way, if you've ever bought a frankencar intake, is it not the best youv'e ever had.....another thing is he's upgraded everything with it, the new midpipes come with BENDS in them to give you more room....just a thought, i think it's a good deal, and he's always been good to answer my questions, even if you call his cell phone he always has time

Especially when the stock airbox can be modified to make some solid gains in breathing. I ran my 14.4 @ nearly 100mph with my "hacked" stock airbox.

Some of you guys kill me. This thread was not about how you can make your own intake for five dollars. We've already heard about how everyone can make intakes time and time again. Take it to another thread.
