There is a small door ding driver's side, but the paint is in great condition. 116,000 miles, lots of highway miles
Mods include: cattman y-pipe,stillen b-pipe, hks muffler, Stillen intake/ECU/FSTB, Addco RSB, American racing zurg 16" with Michelin (can't remember type right now)clear/red tailights, clear corners, APC superwhites all up front, $200 PIAA fogs newly installed. SMX grille.....I am the second owner...Thanks

You may want to consider selling your mods seperately; effectively returning the car back to stock. If you have the old stock parts, it usually works out better financially this way. It will also be harder to find a buyer for a car modded like yours.

BTW, I'd be interested in your clear/red taillights. Please email me if you'd like to sell them.

Once you've done this you can check what similar cars are going for online and in your local newspaper. Book value can be helpful (http://www.edmunds.com) but it can also be misleading. I don't advise trading the car in at a dealer since they don't like cars with more than 100k miles on them and will only give you wholesale value, if that.

Good luck and let me know about the taillights!
Jim

JJWC95C.....

Unfortunately I did not keep most of my original parts. This is why I needed help estimating the value of the car. I do however have the original tailights, and will get the red/clear ones to you for a good price. You are first on my list. Do you have an estimate on my car?

I did a little leg work for you so you HAVE to give me a good deal on your taillights...where are you located?

Edmunds ( http://www.edmunds.com/used/1995/nis...rglesedan.html ) shows a '95GLE like yours at $10,400. I estimate that about 90k miles would be average for a '95 so you will need to adjust for high mileage which would subtract around $1000-1500 from the book value (above). As far as your mods, one rule of thumb is to take what you paid for them (not including installation) and subtract about 50% of that. So if you spend $4000 on all that stuff, you could add $2000 to the asking price of the car. I know this is painful...but I could be wrong. It depends in part on how quickly you need to sell it and how easily you can find a buyer for a modded car like yours with high mileage.

Things like the FSTB, RSB, and wheels could easily be sold seperately unless you find a buyer who is specifically looking for those mods. Be sure to list it here in the Maxima's For Sale/Wanted BBS.

Now about those clears.... jwengert@rcn.com ...I am in NJ.

here's what you do....

go to http://www.kbb.com...
get the trade in value of your car...
add up what you paid for your mods then divide that number in half...
then total it up...
Thats what you should ask for your car.

Here's MY appraisal:
Kelley Blue Book Trade In Value- $6300-$6900.
Your modifications are now worth-$1500-$1700 or so.

Total Value IMHO- $7800-$8600.

Feel free to deposit a payment of $100 for this appraisal directly into my PayPal account.

Hmm...close to my estimate. I think he could sell it privately for more than that Kelley trade-in value but if you didn't allow for high mileage it comes out about the same.
