Clutch system woes ....(pics)
Clutch system woes ....(pics)
i've been having a problem with the maxima for awhile now. at first the slave sylinder went out so i put a new one in...then that one went bad a week later and started leaking fluid from the piston. so i replaced it. then i thought my master was bad also so i replace it too.
ive bled a LOT of fluid through the whole system (im talking a bottle and a half) and no air is coming out. the pedal doesn't feel as firm as it used to but the slave is pressing the fork to the point where its touching the bell housing...is this normal?
the clutch doesn't grab unless the pedal is depressed completely to the floor. i used to only have to press is half way down
what else could be wrong if my hydraulic system is brand freaking new?

look at the fork, the throw out bearing may have came out of place. when you installed the throw out bearing it had a little cip type thingy, it goes on there facing upward like this u<---- if you did not do that then the TO bearing may have came out of place when you lifted it back up.
Re: Re: Clutch system woes ....(pics)
I agree with Jay. If you move the fork TOO much, it could cause the TO bearing clips to go undone. The 3-gen TO bearings also are "one way" ie.. they should be installed a particular way.

he has no choice but to drop the tranny, he done replaced da m nearly everything.

Well one suggestion is to try to peer in though the shift fork level hole? He's got the rubber boot removed in the pics. It "might" show if the TO bearing is "off". I know it will be freakin' hard to see but....
One other option is to maybe get a mechanic to use one of those cameras mounted one the end of a wire thingies. Plumbers use then to see inside pipes etc...
But worst case, yeah, tranny has to come off.

Take off tranny, yes. Take apart the tranny, no.

Trevor, it sucks, but you may have to drop the tranny. While I've never done anything like this, it's my understanding that once you pull the tranny, you can literally reach in and pull out the throw-out bearing. If your bearing did "fall out" this could explain a lot about the problems you've been having.

is suppose to be straight I cant easily get to my since I have all the SCer piping other then that tomorrow I would snap a pic, is not suppose to be crooked like the first picture you have up there.
1st, 2nd 3rd and the 5th picture tells the complete story, look at it one end is touching and the other is not.
