Oh yeah... please let me know what you think about it. Good? Bad? Most of you guys wanted it.

It's not registered yet, but I'm definitely thinking about it.

yes Nauman and I have used it alot and it is pretty cool, you can also instant message a person through the chat which is pretty cool. The censor thing is kinda lame but it was fun finding out what words werent allowed.

the noises are kinda funny too.

People should be careful for now, because of the weird cookie problems ... if you sign on with a different name than your Org name, you can't sign back onto the Org with your original name.

Here's what happened to me:
I signed into chat using the name: unknown then logged out. Tried signing onto the Org with name name clee130 and the Org told me it was an invalid name.

I went and cleared my cookies but still the same thing happened. I signed in on the bottom as clee130 and it said, "Thank you for logging in, unknown."

And the verification email links are still messed up so I couldn't log in to post that something was wrong.

I logged back into chat and used my real Org name: clee130 and then could get back into the Org.

I think chat is useful... Here is my theory: when people get bored, they like to ***** it up. Lets call this the 'sprintmax effect' . Because of the sprintmax effect, the bandwidth usage goes up and space on the server is wasted. If people have an alternative like chat, the sprintmax effect can be avoided and people who are looking for real information will be happy as well as those who are just bored....

btw kev, damn fine job gettin this site up to par. It feels so weird tho... especially with sigs on again haha

The chat window is resized proportional to the size of your resolution (hardcoded). If you use 800X600, it will be smaller.

Thanks!

If you guys don't see our names in the "Currently Active Users" list, then it's probably not us.

kev, maybe u should consider restricting usernames for the chatroom to the same ORG handle they're logged into. I'm assuming people who are non-maxima.org members can log into the chat too? I dunno... could cause problems. Just a suggestion, i know ure busy already as it is

You'd have to pay for it? Dump it. It's a toy that most will not use. It's neat now because it's new but soon you'll start hearing about making new rooms, people whoring up "good chats" with crap, can we have archives, etc.

IMO people are going to want it to be IM and it's not supposed to be, so it's going to be more frustrating and a pain in the a** than anything.

Don't pay, people won't miss it, IMO. If people want chat let them set up an AOL/yahoo chat and do it there.
