today at local muffler shop

so i dropped by a local muffler shop today to ask price on installing a new muffler. the guy quoted me $80.00 install, which I don't think its that bad.
than he goes into, maybe i should do it the right way, by adding a pipe there to increase it from 1.5" to 2.5" (i think those are the number that he gave me). he said the reason is since my car is so big, there isn't ENOUGH TORQUE to push it when starting from a stop.

Is adding the extra pipe gonna give me the extra 10-15hp and torque that he claims?

So by adding the pipe does that make it a full cat-back system?

btw, he quoted me $380.00 total for pipe and muffler, is this a good price? thanks

He is wrong...very wrong.
Your 5th generation muffler is better than 99% of the mufflers out there. The set up for you will be a Ypipe and Mandrel B pipe.Keeping the stock muffler in this set up...you will get the HP/TQ...you will FEEEEEEL it...without the Loud Drone and Noise that people look at you like you F***ed up you car.

drive back to the shop, **** whip that moron, and leave a big nice burnout in the middle of his parking lot since he claims there's no torque.

I had my Budget B, and a borla muffler and tip (had to be made into a rear section) all welded, all SS for $120. $380 to weld on a 8-10 inch piece of pipe and install everything is WAY too much...IMHO
